REVIEW: Plus One by Brighton Walsh

Olivia hates the singles scene, so when her best guy friend, Ian, offers to be her plus one to a series of weddings she has to attend, she agrees. Although she doesn't want to complicate their lifelong friendship, she can't pass up the chance to have a steady date without the dating drama. What she doesn't expect is to now find Ian so incredibly sexy.

When Ian sees his old friend Olivia dolled up for wedding #1, the boyhood crush he once nurtured transforms into smoldering attraction. It doesn't take long for their no-strings arrangement to turn physical. But as Olivia's desire to stay "just friends" becomes clear, Ian's feelings are deepening. In the time they have together, how will Ian convince Olivia that one plus one can make for a lifelong pair?

REVIEW

I have to start off by saying this book was SO much more than I expected. Looking at the cover, I thought that it was going to be a sweet little friends to lovers romance... Oooooohhhhh no! Plus One is a sweet little romance, but it has HOT STEAMY moments that don’t require you to use your imagination.

Olivia Winters and Ian Donnelly have known each other for twenty years. In fact, Olivia and Ian’s sister, Emma are best friends. Growing up, it was always the three of them. The book starts off with Olivia continuing her track record of having one of the worst dates ever. She has the standard setup of of having Emma call her during her dates to make sure things are going okay. On this particular day, instead of Emma calling it’s Ian. Over the course of the phone call, Olivia mentions that she has several weddings and wedding type events to attend. Ian immediately offers to be her plus one so she isn’t stuck with either going alone or having to endure more horrible dates.

Unbeknownst to Olivia, Ian has had a crush on her since they were kids. At some point during adulthood, his feelings became love. In an attempt to protect his heart, Ian moved away from Olivia and his family. Ian tried to move on with his life, but for him, Olivia was ALWAYS his ONE. When the chance to take their relationship further arises, Ian is more than happy to take it.

This is a story where you have two people who obviously love and care for each other but don’t want to damage the friendship they’ve spent years building. Olivia, Emma, and Ian are all people you are going to love falling in love with.

    1. Thank you. There were definitely times when the book caught me off guard. I wasn't expecting it. I honestly toyed with giving it a higher rating.
