HOT SUMMER ROMANCE GIVEAWAY HOP 7/18 - 7/21

Almost a year ago, I started this blogging thing... I was a  romance reader, or so I thought I was.  My little world didn’t go very far beyond Nora Roberts and authors who write along the same lines.  Being a reviewer/blogger has introduced me to SO much more romance.  I mean romance I never even knew existed.  There’s Paranormal, New Adult, Romantic Suspense, Erotica, and the list goes on.

I started reading Romantic Suspense because there was a book coming out from a series that I loved.  There were a couple of characters making a brief appearance, but their stories were told in another series.  So I had to check them out.  Who knew Romantic Suspense could be so good.  Let’s just say, Diego Santero from Melissa Cutler’s TEMPTED INTO DANGER is one of my favorite romantic suspense heroes.  As is, Jack Vaughn from Leslie McKelvey’s ACCIDENTAL AFFAIR.  (I swear Jack actually speaks to me in my dreams.)  These two guys are ICE and DEA agents who know how to use guns and will do anything and everything to keep the woman close to them safe.

My first Erotica book was Sylvia Day’s BARED TO YOU.  Oh my gosh, Gideon Cross.  There’s something to be said about a man who wears tailored suits and has piercing eyes that make you feel he can see into the depths of your soul.  For this sub-genre, my current favorite author is Maya Cross and her The Alpha Group series.  This series as has some serious suspense going on with it’s current book, Lockout.

Now, New Adult..... This was a genre I seriously was refusing to read... I mean, I survived my late teens and early twenties, I didn’t want to revisit that time and all of the stupid mistakes we tend to make at that age.  But darn it... S.L. Scott, another author fav, asked me to read one of her books.  It never occurred to me to say, “S.L., is this New Adult?”  Well.... I read Good Vibrations.  I am now patiently waiting for the second book in the Welcome to Paradise Series.  What I learned about this genre is that the sex is unfreaking believable.  Plus you can’t help but fall for the hero because he’s trying really hard to find himself and become the man he is supposed to be.

So tell me about the romance books you read.  What type are they?  What are some of your favorite books?  Who are some of your favorite authors?

Read Your Writes Book Reviews will be giving away a mystery box... Now, this mystery box might contain some swag or maybe a book... Or maybe both....Who knows.. It’s a mystery.  Okay, okay... I know, but I'm not going to tell you.  My giveaway is ONLY open to continental US residents.  Follow the Rafflecopter instructions below to enter.

There are also two grand prizes being given away as part of the HOT SUMMER ROMANCE GIVEAWAY HOP.  The first prize is a Kindle Fire.  The second prize is a $50 Amazon gift card.  Grand prize winners will be selected from post comments made from all the hop sites via a random number generator.  Please be sure to leave your email address, so that you can be contacted, in case you are chosen as one of the winners.

    1. Oops! Forgot to answer your question. Well, I started out reading bodice ripper romances, then western romances...all historical (early Beatrice Small and Jennifer Blake). I stayed away from contemporaries and "weird" stuff. Then my daughter introduced me to two new-to-me genres: (1) vampire and shifter paranormals (started with Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series and now I'm hooked!) and (2) Dom stuff (she bought me all three volumes of 50 Shades of Grey--whoa!). So I've added that to my repertoire of reading. I guess you could say I'm "all over the map" with what I read; but I know one thing for sure: It has to be romance 'cause I want the HEA's. Oh, and I also love romantic suspense (started with Linda Howard and Catherine Coulter).

    2. Oh my gosh Janice!!! You are ALL over the place. I read my first paranormal... Okay, so it wasn't my first. I NEVER think of Twilight being paranormal.. But I read this one book from Entangled Covet and I LOVED it. My review will be coming next week of the book. But yeah, I need to have HEA or at least let me think there's a HEA.

Melissa Coulter writes really GOOD romantic suspense. Check out my review of TEMPTED INTO DANGER. Seriously...You know a book is good when the author gives you a copy and then you STILL go out and buy your own.

Hopefully you'll win this contest. Good luck.

I have to be one of the few bloggers who reads romance who hasn't read Lorelei James... I don't know what's wrong with me. But I have to start from the beginning of her Rough Riders series, and that's going to take me awhile to get through. Another blogger's husband has read ALL of Lorelei's book and he loved them.
