5 Star Review ~ READ IT AND WEEP by Jenn McKinlay

William Shakespeare is credited with inventing how many words?*
Answering Shakespeare trivia comes with the job description for library director Lindsey Norris. But when the Briar Creek Community Theater mounts their newest production of the Bard, she has no intention of leaving the stacks for the stage. Unfortunately a villain is waiting in the wings…
Former Broadway actress Violet La Rue is holding auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream—and everyone from the sour spinster librarian Ms. Cole to Lindsey’s youthful library pages are trying out for parts. Brought in to play the mischievous Puck is the flirtatious professional actor Robbie Vine, who seems to have eyes for Lindsey. Before her blush has faded, the Bard’s dream turns into a nightmare—when one of the cast is poisoned. Now Lindsey and her crafternooners must take center stage to unmask the culprit before the final curtain call…

REVIEW
Oh my gosh!!!!! I was seriously contemplating writing the author a very nasty email about the events in the book when I reached page 114.  I mean seriously.... I was so upset I wanted to stop reading.  But you know the saying about curiosity and the cat.  I can definitely say satisfaction is going to have me reading Jenn McKinlay again.
I'm a romance reader at heart.  I was surprised to find that a cozy mystery involved a love triangle of this proportion.  Apparently, in the last book, Lindsey was dumped by her boyfriend, Sully.  A lot of this book dealt with their unresolved feelings and Sully’s jealousy because Lindsey caught the eye of Robbie Vine, an actor.
Read It and Weep gives you characters that you will become invested in and fall in love with.
The plot is amazing and surprising.  While I did figure out who the"villain" was about halfway in, the why didn't come to me until the very end.  This book takes you on twists and turns that will leave you going, "I didn't see that coming."
While I originally didn't think the whole library/Shakespeare plot appealed to me, I can not wait for the next book in this series.  Jenn is a new author to me and I’m definitely going to go back and read the other books in the A Library Lover’s Mystery series.

  1. I look forward to reading this. I haven't heard about this series, although I am familiar with Jenn McKinlay as a writer. I have a playhouse themed book series and love the concept of how she tied in the library with the Shakespeare production. I'll definitely be purchasing this book. Thanks for the tip!

Thank you for stopping by and commenting! This was my first Jenn McKinlay book and I really loved it. I'm going to have to check out the other books in this series and then move on to her other series. The Cupcake Mysteries look good.

  2. I really liked the first three books in the series, and I've been waiting for this one since last spring. Can't wait to read it - and I'm hoping the Lindsey-Sully romance will be back on by the end of the book.
