Review ~ HOT INTENT by Cindy Dees

LOVE UNDER SIEGE

For two blissful years, Katie McCloud has been a mother to Dawn and wife to Dr. Alex Peters. But the violent unrest that brought them all together is once again erupting into their lives. Sent to Cuba to help care for hurricane survivors, Katie and Alex are thrust back into the thick of international espionage—this time, on opposite sides.

Katie thought she'd made peace with the secrets locked tight behind Alex's handsome, brooding facade. But faced with a new danger, those secrets threaten the very bond that holds them together. And Alex? He's finding out that what he holds most precious—Katie and tiny Dawn—is making him way too vulnerable. He's going to have to make a choice…before it's too late.

REVIEW

This is the second book in the series and it is a fitting conclusion to our look into the complicated relationship between Alex Peters and Katie McCloud. That being said, it’s imperative that you read the first book before you read this one as you will not truly understand how everything progressed.  There is a lot that happens and plenty of things get resolved or at least addressed that were significant issues from the first book.  In fact, so much happens that I can’t really get into much details without giving away all of the great things about this book.

Alex and Katie are a very mismatched couple that somehow complement each other very well.  He is a reluctant CIA agent with Mommy and Daddy issues. She is a grounded, kindergarten teacher with a loving family where all of the males are in law enforcement or the military.  Katie is still showing Alex what it means to love someone and Alex is still trying to show Katie that there is plenty of evil in the world.  Katie finally witnesses the extent of this evil when she insists on accompanying Alex on a Doctors Unlimited assignment to Cuba. Consequently, they spend a large amount of time running for their lives and they don’t know who to trust.

Hot Intent was just as exciting as the first book, Close Pursuit, and it would be great if the author opted to add a third book although it was probably a fitting conclusion.  The suspense was heart pounding as Alex tried to figure out if there was a mole in the CIA or if there is something else going on entirely. Either way, someone is way ahead of them and at some point they go on the offensive.  It’s great to see Alex embrace the spy that his father has been training him to be his entire life.  It’s equally satisfying to see Katie shed her naive persona and embrace the strong, brave woman that she is.  As expected, there is also plenty of erotic moments between the two of them.  There is so much more depth to the story but if I told you, I would have to kill you.

    1. Hi Cindy,

Gemini really liked the book. I know everything that happened and my mouth was left opened. He was like, "How do you think I felt reading it?"
