She wanted fantasy. He's about to make it a reality...
Grant Osprey just had the hottest sex of his life. Sure, they were both in costume, and yes, it was anonymous, but he never expected her to bolt in the middle of the night without so much as a goodbye, let alone exchanging numbers. Or names. All he's left with are her panties and some seriously X-rated memories...until he meets his business partner's little sister.
Only Chloe Talley isn't the bold, sexy vixen he remembers. And she wants nothing to do with him.
Cosplay is Chloe's only chance to leave her boring, socially awkward world behind. To forget that she's failing at life and can't be with anyone, let alone a single-father like Grant. But the raw hunger between them is undeniable. With him, she can be a misbehaving maid. A sexy call girl for hire. Each scene pushes Chloe beyond her strict boundaries, until Grant demands the one character she can't play.
Playing for Her Heart starts around the time the previous book, Changing His Game ends. While this is the second book in the series, it is a standalone read.
Grant, Grant, Grant..... I knew I was going to love Grant Osprey from the glimpse I got of him in Changing His Game. The man is a single father who stepped up to raise his now fourteen-year-old daughter by himself when he was in college. Now, he’s part owner of Gamers magazine with his new business partner, Ethan Talley.
Chloe Talley (Ethan’s sister) is one of those heroines I love. She’s a shy/introvert who’s more comfortable dealing with code and her computer than she is with people or anything else. But beneath that shyness is a brazen vixen who comes out to play when armed with a costume or pretending to be someone else. I feel sorry for Chloe who has lost herself trying to be there for everyone but herself since the death of her sister. Being the youngest of three, Chloe sees herself as being unimportant and unnecessary.
Grant totally surprised me in this book. I wasn’t expecting him to be the dirty talker he was. And, I definitely didn’t expect him to be the rough, down and dirty type. But with all of that, he still has a soft, caring, sensitive side.
The chemistry between Grant and Chloe is off the charts. Unfortunately, Chloe doesn’t think the real her is good enough for Grant. With Grant what you see is who he actually is. What I loved about this story was that Grant fought to have Chloe show him who she really was. I loved that he forced her to realize that her and her feelings were just as important as the feelings of others. Together, the two bring a balance to each other lives neither realized they needed.
I’m looking forward to seeing what Megan Erickson has in store for the rest of this series.
