Molly from Karoline Barrett's RAISIN THE DEAD drops by for an interview + giveaway

Raisin the Dead (A Bread & Batter Mystery, #2)
by: Karoline Barrett
Series: A Bread & Butter Mystery
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Release Date: April 19, 2016
Publisher: Penguin InterMix

The author of Bun for Your Life returns to Destiny, New York, where bakery owners and amateur sleuths Molly Tyler and Olivia Williams never crumble under pressure...
While the rest of Destiny is focused on the arrival of an upper crust perfume mogul, Molly is more concerned about what’s on the front page of the newspaper: her mother. Library director Anne Tyler was photographed at the most romantic restaurant in town having a cozy dinner with library advisory board member Philip Baldeli. But there’s more for Molly to worry about after Philip is found dead a few days later.
When Detective Sean Corsino zeroes in on Anne as a person of interest in the case, it turns down the heat on his budding romance with Molly. But after he’s injured during the course of his investigation, Molly and Olivia must step in to sift through the clues and clear Anne’s name.

Hi Molly.  Welcome to Read Your Writes Book Reviews.  How are you today?
Hi Kim and Gemini! Thank you so much for having me on your blog. I’m great, except it’s rather cold out. I’d be happier if I was sitting on a beach somewhere!
There’s this little unknown secret, it gets cold at the beach too.  But not as cold where you are.  You’re co-owner of the Bread and Batter Bakery, in Destiny, New York.  Is Destiny a real place or a fictional town created by your creator, Karoline Barrett?
It’s fictional. Karoline thought it up in her vivid imagination, although it is based on a couple of real-life towns in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York.
Tell me a little bit about yourself.
I was born and raised in Destiny. It’s a small town, where everyone knows everyone. Annoying at times, but I love it here. We have the beautiful lake, a lot of cute shops, and so many lovely houses. I’ve loved cooking and baking since I was a young girl. I was thrilled when my best friend, Olivia, and I were able to open Bread and Batter Bakery. I was a Nancy Drew fan growing up, and now I seem to have the same interest she did when it comes to mysteries and murder!
What’s something readers would be surprised to learn about you?
When I was little, I wanted to be a professional ice-skater, and run a bakery during the off-season.
In Bun for Your Life, readers got the chance to meet you and your business partner Olivia.  Since you were first introduced to readers how has your life changed?
Our bakery has gotten busier, which is great. I’ve been making a lot of different breads and they’re very popular. I’ve helped solve two murders, which has gotten me, and Bread and Batter a lot of attention.  I also have a new man in my life, but I see that’s my next question, so I won’t say anything more about him!
Lol.  Who’s the new man in your life?  Details PLEASE!!!!
We got off to a rocky start, since he was investigating me for murder and all, but once I got to know Detective Sean Corsino, I knew I’d never go back to my ex-husband Brian. Sean is not only delicious to look at, he’s kind, sexy, smart, sweet, and a very good detective. And, of course, there’s Beau! I’m one lucky woman! He’s not thrilled to have me poke my nose into our town’s two recent murders, but he grudgingly admits I was helpful. Underline grudgingly! He should admit that, especially since in Raisin the Dead, he wasn’t able to deal with the investigation. But, you’ll have to read the book to find out why!
There’s a Bassett Hound on the covers of both of your books. Is he your dog?
Beau is on the cover of Bun for Your Life. I absolutely love that dog. He belongs to Sean. Beau is also on the cover of the Raisin the Dead, even though Sean gave me my very own Bassett for our first Christmas together! Her name is Noelle, but she’s shy and doesn’t like all the publicity. Beau, on the other hand, eats it up. The adore each other.
That’s so sweet.  I bet they’re both adorable.  Are there ever times when you whisper in Karoline’s ear, asking her why she has you doing something?
Oh, yes! The time she had me drooling over a Mustang with leather seats. I’m a lacto-ovo vegetarian, no leather seats for me! Karoline must have forgotten that, but I’ve forgiven her. Then there’s the time she had me twirling my hair around my finger when I’m at Bread and Batter, getting ready to bake. How unsanitary is that? I don’t know what she was thinking.
Lol.  I’m sure she had her reasons for making you do those things.  Are you happy with the way Raisin the Dead turned out?
Definitely! I’m partial to the role the Destiny Divas, the book club I belong to, play in the book. They’re based on a real-life book club that Karoline knows. There’s also a not-so-nice-character in Raisin the Dead who turns out to be a good friend of mine, but that’s all I’m going to say about that. I think you’ll like the way it turns out, too!
Thank you so much for joining me Molly.  I’m looking forward to reading both of your books.
Thanks again for having me. This was fun! I hope you, and everyone out there, love the books!

I live in a small Connecticut town with my husband. When I’m not writing, I’m either reading, spending time by the water, taking pictures, traveling, indulging in social media, accompanying above-mentioned husband to New York Yankees games, or doing anything that does not involve math..
