Danger once again laps at the shores of Barkley Sound, the Graveyard of the Pacific…
Since her rocky childhood and its abrupt, brutal ending, schoolteacher Anna Silver hasn’t given her trust easily. But when her estranged father gets in over his head—again—and winds up dead, his last message to Anna is as clear as it is insistent: she’s in danger and Brent Carver, the man with whom he shared a prison cell for five years, is the only person she should turn to for help. With nowhere else to go and with her father’s killer on her trail, Anna flees to what she hopes is safety.
Tucked into the west coast of Vancouver Island, Brent Carver’s isolated home hasn’t seen many visitors. And his friend’s daughter is the last person he ever expected to grace his doorstep. She’s in trouble, and he can’t deny her protection…just as he can’t deny his attraction to the independent beauty. As their passion sparks into flame, the perfect storm brews off the coast of his island home, bringing with it a sadistic killer hunting Anna and the secrets she’s come close to uncovering.
REVIEW
This was by far the most action packed book that I have read to-date. The storytelling moved along like a big-budget movie. There was murder, mystery, deceit, and...sex. I could visualize everything that happened in this book just as if it were playing on my big screen TV. To say that I was more than impressed would be an understatement.
Dark Waters is the story of Anna Silver and her unexpected search to find out the truth behind the so-called accidental death of her father, Davis Silver and his supposed theft of $60 million. There is an extensive cast of characters that include several former military guys, an ex-con, and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Everything about this book keeps you on your toes until the final chapter. To make things even more like a script from Hollywood, the ex-con plays the hero.
In short, Davis Silver discovers a money laundering scheme that gets him killed. His daughter enlists the help of Davis’ former cellmate, Brent Carver. Brent spent time in prison for murdering his father. I could give you more details but...you will just have to read the book to figure out the rest. I will say that there is enough baggage surrounding the main characters that it could fill an airport terminal. Either way, hands down the best book that I have read this year.
