With an angry loan shark hot on her heels, Frankie Delenski flees a Vegas gentlemen’s club with one thought in mind: hide before she’s nothing more than a chalk outline. Now on the run…she finds herself stranded in a sleepy Colorado town during a storm. Her only salvation becomes the suspicious and gorgeous deputy sheriff determined to arrest her…
From the get-go, Wes Malone must restrain his lust for this stunning, unpredictable woman in a sequined bra and rely on his instincts as a cop. As he sifts through the haze of lies, the truth about her predicament is like a sucker punch to the gut. She’s in serious danger and getting involved with her means nothing but sweet, irresistible trouble…
He stood next to her by the fireplace. The light shimmered off the water droplets in his hair, and the skin across his chest glowed. Frankie couldn’t help herself, she touched the tattoo on his pec. He froze, heat sparking in his gray eyes.
“When did you get this?” she asked, her voice almost a whisper.
For a moment he just watched her, his expression unreadable. When he finally spoke his voice came out low, gravelly.
“Got it in the Navy, about eight years ago.”
“Were you special forces…or a cop then, too?”
“I was an MP.”
“Hmmm.”
In a lazy motion, she outlined the eagle with the tip of her finger.
“My daddy always told me to stay away from bad boys with tattoos.”
“And did you?”
“Yes. Well, I tried. Once, I had to tell him that I didn’t know the boy had a tattoo because it was hidden.”
“You told your dad that?” he asked with lifted brows.
Frankie pursed her lips. “Yes, I’d gone swimming with this boy, well he was eighteen so technically he was a man, and as soon as I saw his tattoo of the Grim Reaper, I knew I was in trouble. Later my daddy said that I should just stay away from all boys—just in case.”
A smirk inched up on Wes’s face only to quickly disappear. Flattening the palm of her hand over his chest, she felt the pounding of his heart.
Inside the room, the fire crackled and sizzled and she couldn’t miss the intensity of the heat in his half-lidded gaze. He lifted a hand and framed her face.
In a slow movement, the pad of his thumb brushed across her lower lip. On their own accord, her lips opened and she inhaled a shuddering breath.
“If you keep looking at me like that, I’m going to kiss the hell out of you,” he said in a raspy tone.
Purchase Nothing But Trouble from:
Men in Uniform
I would like to thank Read Your Writes Book Reviews for hosting me and sharing my new select suspense release NOTHING BUT TROUBLE (Vegas Vixens series). I don’t know about you, but when the hero of a novel is a man in uniform it just makes him even more deliciously tempting: military, law enforcement, firemen. Hmmm. There is just something about their courage, sense of honor, take-charge manner, and muscular physique that makes a girl weak at the knees. Meet Wes Malone from NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. A sinfully handsome deputy sheriff, former Navy M.P., who doesn’t trust women after his ex-wife cheated on him. All he wants (or thinks he wants) is a quiet life in his cabin tucked away in the Colorado mountains.
When the heroine Frankie “drops” in on Wes, just the sight of him takes her breath away. Okay, he didn’t have a stitch of clothes on, but he looked damn hot only wearing water droplets and a tattoo of an eagle stamped on his pec. But when Frankie finally sees him in uniform, all she could think about was taking it off. I mean, come on she didn’t stand a chance: his handsome face is clean shaven, close cut brown hair, deep-set gray eyes with a deputy’s uniform clinging to his muscular six-foot frame. She’d never wanted to be arrested more in her life.
So I have a question for you. Are men in uniform your top pick for book boyfriends or is there another profession for a hero that you find simply irresistible?
