Series: Kendrick Place

Release Date: July 17, 2017
Publisher: Entangled ~ Bliss

He’s under her skin...and deep in her heart

Brady Davis is as happy as he is charming. Usually. Unless he’s in the same room with the frustratingly gorgeous antidote to his cheer. Mia Kendrick is headstrong and determined. She’s done with men who stand in her way—even if he has arms like Thor and a smile that makes her dizzy. Whenever they’re together, sparks fly—both the bad and good kind.

When Mia returns home to take over management of Kendrick Place, Brady is worried her focus on big business could be the end of his tight-knit home and the family he’s created there. Mia may have the power to change everything, but Brady could have the power to change her mind…if he can get inside her heart.

Hi Jody.  Welcome back to Read Your Writes Book Reviews.  How are you?
Hi! Thank you for having me back. I’m really good. Really excited to be here.

Awesome.  Your latest installment of your Kendrick Place series is Hate to Love Him.  Can you sum the book up for me Twitter style?
Mia and Brady might think they’re all wrong for each other, but they feel otherwise. #cantfightthisfeeling

Tell me about Brady Davis and Mia Kendrick.
Brady is a happy-go-lucky guy who feels happiest when he’s surrounded by the people he loves. Mia is a well-known Boston socialite who wants her family to see she’s ready to be taken seriously. They’re a little like olive oil and balsamic vinegar…they don’t seem like they’d go together, but are actually a very nice compliment to one another.

What do you love about these two?
I love that they care so much about others. I think the world is a better place because of the people we choose to surround ourselves with. They’ve got some great banter, a lot of heat, and even though they rile each other up, they also push each other to be better…to be more.

I’m love that.  Do you have a favorite scene from Hate to Love Him and if so, can you please tell me about it?
Brady and Mia share mutual friends so they make an effort to get along and end up go-karting. They’re working toward a truce, but there’s still some tension between them, sexual and otherwise so I think it makes the banter kind of fun. Also, it shows Brady (and readers) another side of Mia.

I’m a sucker for hero lines which leave the heroine and myself breathless. What’s your favorite line or two from Brady which left Mia and yourself breathless?
I like this little exchange before their first kiss. No matter how hard they fight it, they can’t stop wanting each other.

“You’re doing it again,” she whispered.
Brady blinked like he was surfacing from underwater. “Huh?”
Mia’s hand drifted down to his shoulder and she looked at his lips. “Looking at me like you want to kiss me.”
“What would happen if I did?”
She tilted her chin slightly and one of his hands went to her hip. “Why don’t we find out?”

Oh. Sweet!!! Jody, thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me today.  Congratulations on your new release.
Thank you so much for having me. It was my pleasure to be here.

He tossed both helmets in the bin and joined her as they walked toward the counter. She meant it. Her smile nearly vibrated with excitement.

Smiling with her, he asked, “You ever test the limits with your Lexus on the open road? See how she handles?”

“Not really. Not past the freeway limit anyway.”

“You oughta do that. Bet she drives like a dream.”

“You keep calling my car a ‘she.’”

He stopped walking and turned to her. “Your car is a she.”

She bit her top lip, drawing his attention. “No. My car is a machine.”

Meeting her gaze, he told her seriously, “A beautiful machine. A she.”

Mia laughed. “Okay. If you say so. Is your car a ‘she’?”

“Of course,” he replied.

After getting back their licenses, Brady bought a huge bag of popcorn and a couple of colas.

“Racing makes me hungry,” he admitted when he joined Mia at a small table she’d sat at.

“Really? Winning does the same thing for me,” she said.

All he could do was grin. This was a different side of her for sure. One he hadn’t expected. He took a seat across from her. “You’re a little competitive, princess.”

She took a handful of popcorn and popped one kernel in her mouth. “I like to win. And you can’t call me that now.”

He took a sip of his soda. “Which is a shame. It suits you.”

Her mouth scrunched up like it was filling with unpleasant words. He laughed. “Don’t look at me like that. I meant it suits you in a good way.”

“Well, you’ll have to just use my name now. I won fair and square.”

Arching one brow, he took a handful of kernels. “I don’t know about fair and square. You did deke me. But, you won, so I’ll have to come up with a new nickname.”

She laughed. He shoved a handful into his mouth, watching her eat one piece at a time. She ate like a princess. Looked like one, too.
