Her Backup Boyfriend is one of those stories that makes me remember why I’m a fan of Entangled Bliss. You get characters you can relate to and love. Characters you want to root for and hope get everything they want and deserve out of life.
Dominic Sorensen is seriously a good guy. I mean he’s one of those men you want to spend the rest of your life with. He’s funny, charming, smart, and loves his family like crazy. There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family, including giving up his dream and losing the woman he loved.
Kate Matthews grew up without a lot in life, except for the love her grandmother. Kate has worked very hard to overcome her past and become a lawyer. Her goal now is to become junior partner at Strauss and Fletcher, one of Salt Lake City’s most prominent law firms. The only thing standing in her way is a life outside of the office, i.e. no boyfriend and/family.
Kate recently purchased her first house, a fixer upper (okay a house in serious, serious need of fixing up). Dominic happens to be Kate’s new neighbor’s nephew and a contractor. The two strike up a deal where Dominic will do most of the work on the house himself and only charge Kate minimally, in exchange for Kate helping his sister, Daisy, with her divorce, free of charge. Oh, and there’s also the whole boyfriend thing. In order for Daisy to go to Kate for help, they have to convince her that they are a couple and Daisy is doing Kate a favor. Plus this fake relationship will get the powers that be at Kate’s office to see she does have a life.
There is so much that I loved about this book. Kate and Dominic become friends and then lovers. Dominic proves what a great guy he is. Kate discovers what’s really important. And the best part....this book sets readers up for a fantastic series. The Sorensen family is wonderful and I can’t wait to read more about them.
