Once Pure is another great read from Cecy Robson and proof of why she has quickly made it onto my list of must-read authors. And, whilst it didn't hold as quite as many surprises as Once Loved, there were still side elements to the story that I couldn't have predicted. Difficult, emotional subjects are covered sensitively and Sofia and Killian's journey is one of revelation, redemption, acceptance and a love that spanned many years. Despite the fact that they have never done anything about it.
"You were a pretty little girl. But neither of us realised how beautiful you'd become."
I loved Killian and Sofia together. Her painful past has left her with real vulnerabilities, yet she possesses a quiet strength, temerity and honesty about her. Killian may be an MMA fighter, but when it comes to Sofia, he is gentle and patient. And he's not without his own secrets.
"I wish I could explain what you mean to me, and how much I need you. I just don't know how."
With heart-wrenching, emotional content balanced with fabulous humour and banter courtesy of Killian's large, brash and lovable siblings, it was a captivating journey; Cecy Robson has certainly laid the foundations for more in the Shattered Past series.
