What fun is life without a little bit of trouble?
Retired supermodel and forever wild child Olivia Sweet is nothing but trouble. The youngest Sweet triplet is back in her hometown, but instead of a triumphant return it’s a parade of humiliations. She’s broke, homeless and dealing with the fallout from her scumbag ex-boyfriend publishing naked pictures of her to a revenge porn website.
Staid and stalwart veteran Mateo Garcia has seen more trouble than a man ever should in his lifetime. He’s gone from pretty boy Marine to a small town police chief with a chip on his shoulder and scars covering the left side of his face. Now his former lover, Olivia, is back in town and living next door.
When the two are forced to work together to fix up the crumbling veterans’ center, the sparks fly between the beauty and the man who sees himself as a beast. Not everyone is happy that Olivia is back home though and Mateo has to choose between the town who wants her gone and an uncertain future with a woman who he thinks could never love him…
REVIEW
With a sexy couple and quirky townsfolk, Trouble on Tap is a great addition to the Sweet Salvation Brewery series. Mateo and Olivia have come across as a little less endearing in the previous books, however this wasn't the case when the focus lay on them.
"I'm just an asshole Marine...I'm not the kind of guy people like you should depend on."
Having grown up together and embarked on a friends-with-benefits relationship that suited them both due to their careers, Olivia and Mateo's last encounter doesn't hold fond memories. And when the former model's personal life implodes amidst scandal and she returns to Salvation, she's greeted by a grumpy Police Chief with a military career that has left him changed on the inside and out. But the fire and feelings still burn between them.
"The time for playing with zippers is over."
I loved the dynamic of this couple; strong yet vulnerable, both were loveable characters with depth. Avery Flynn has combined second chance love and best-friend's older brother with a feel of Beauty and the Beast bringing her reader a story that captivates. Well paced, it has a refreshing feel, is passionate, frustrating, sweet (no pun intended) and brought my type of dry humour. And with a lovely epilogue to wrap up the Sweet triplets' stories, it was a satisfying end which left me smiling.

Great review. I've heard of the author but I don't think I've read any of her work yet. I like the sound of this one though. With it being the last of a trilogy I'm assuming that you shouldn't just pick up this book an read it?
ReplyDeleteEach book focuses on one of the triplets. There is character and story crossover but you could read them alone or out of order. Although TOT does have an epilogue that wraps everything up.
