He always keeps his promises.

Angelina has sacrificed everything to be with the man she loves. Forced to abandon her family, and even her own identity, Angelina depends on Haithem as never before. With no more secrets between them, Haithem has become the source of all her needs. Sexually. Emotionally.

But not even Haithem can hide forever.

While they're sneaking across borders, avoiding persecution from everyone who would see Haithem dead and his prototype stolen, the media fascination surrounding Angelina's disappearance continues to mount.

For Angelina, it's a brutal reminder of what she's left behind and the pain she's caused to those who believe her dead or held against her will.

To Haithem, it's a warning: he stands to lose the one person left in his life he loves beyond measure. The hunt won't be called off until his enemies have destroyed him, his life's work and everyone involved—including Angelina.

He has only one choice. He's promised to protect her. And Haithem always keeps his promises.

REVIEW

Didn’t You Promise is the second book in Amber Bardan’s Bad for You series. It’s a direct continuation from the first book, Didn’t I Warn You, so you really need to read the first book in order to truly understand the relationship between Haithem and Angelina. Of course, calling it a relationship is an understatement when it comes to the passion and intensity that surrounds the two of them. Haithem and Angelina have a twisted history that is based on a chance meeting that eventually lands Angelina on Haithem’s boat in the middle of the ocean. Months have passed since their odd romance began and Haithem is still trying to protect both of them from people trying to stop Haithem from crippling the energy business with an invention that he and his murdered father created.

As sequels go, this one is missing something. It seems that everything that happens this time around drags on in a continuous loop. We have come to expect Haithem to be overbearing and a habitual liar but it’s crazy that Angelina still believes him anyway. He lies to protect her but he never even seems to understand why his lies are hurting her so much. Haithem does everything out of love but he has no idea what it means to be equals in a relationship. Sure, people are literally trying to kill them but Haithem seems to be the real danger to Angelina. That being said, I just didn’t find Didn’t You Promise to be as believable as Didn’t I Warn You. I would have expected more of an evolution from both of them but that doesn’t happen until late in the book. The only evolution that does occur happens between the sheets where things become more pornographic than the first book. Their heat literally burns through the pages. I’m not sure what I expected overall but I hope that the author changes direction in the third book because I feel like this thrill ride is getting a little boring.
