From matchmaker...to perfect match?

Whitney Thomason prides herself on being able to find the perfect partner for anyone, but heart surgeon Tanner Locke is a real challenge! He wants to settle down, but he's adamant there'll be no falling in love...

When Whitney's candidate falls through, it's up to her to be the girlfriend Tanner needs for his weekend business getaway, but two days in close proximity proves torturous. They know giving in to temptation is a bad idea, but desire is more powerful than reason…

Susan Carlisle is a new to me author and one I will definitely be reading again.

The Surgeon’s Cinderella is the love story of professional matchmaker Whitney Thomason and heart transplant surgeon Tanner Locke.  The two meet when Tanner contacts Whitney needing to find a wife in order to secure a promotion.  His requirements seem simple enough. “I’m looking for someone who takes care of herself, is good in social situations, wants to be a mother and would be supportive of my career.”  What Tanner isn’t looking for is love.  He grew up in a dysfunctional household and saw what love did to his mother.  He doesn’t want to endure that kind of pain.

Whitney ends up getting more than she bargained for when she signed Tanner as a client. Instead of being easy, he’s demanding.  He doesn’t respect boundaries and seems to only care about how he and his time are affected.  Case in point, when the woman he selects to spend a business weekend retreat with bails, he demands that Whitney fill in with only a few hours notice.  What starts out as an uncomfortable situation, quickly starts to become a friendship and progresses to something more.  “I don’t know what you’re doing to me, but I like who I am around you.”

While Tanner may be enjoying his time with Whitney, his feelings towards love hasn’t changed.  Whitney is a woman who believes in love.  She has her parents and grandparents as examples and she wants that for herself.  “We aren’t meant for each other. We are looking for different things out of a relationship.”

To the reader, there is no question that these two are falling in love with each other, even if they don’t realize it.  In order for these two to have the possibility of having everything they want in life, they are each going to have to come to terms with their own issues, phobias, and demons. Plus, realize that “love isn’t always easy but it’s always worth it.”

Whitney and Tanner are both likeable characters.  I wasn’t necessarily in love with them.  But I loved getting to know them and watching them get to know each other.  The Surgeon’s Cinderella has a love inspired feel to it and will leave you sighing in happiness.
