When Mercedes drops back into his life after three years apart, Alec will stop at nothing to keep her safe from her deranged ex. His protectiveness is contrasted by the love and gentleness he gives Mercedes. Through both books, he often puts aside his own feelings to help her regain the agency she lost in the past. He gives her choices that others would take away and he knows her better than anyone ever has.
With every new trauma Mercedes experiences, Alec becomes increasingly desperate to keep her safe. Even when their relationship hits a bottom, he loves her deeply and wants to give her the life she deserves.
I really put these two through the emotional ringer. I truly hope that readers feel that I did them both justice by the end of the duet.

American writer AV Asher (Avie) was one of those kids always who got in trouble for reading in class. She has been creating stories since childhood, but only recently began writing them down. The Truth Keeps Silent is Avie's debut novel. The second book in the duet, The Lies That Shatter, is expected to be released in the Autumn of 2021. Avie lives in Northern Nevada with her husband and three children.
