Dani Collins is an author who never disappoints me. I've only read a small fraction of her books but each one has truly hooked me. She manages to make you care about the characters. Not only are their hearts on the line, but so is yours.

One Snowbound New Year's Night is the second chance love story of Rebecca "Becca" Matthews and Donovan "Van" Scott. The two had a whirlwind romance and married five years ago. Unfortunately, the two have not seen each other and have been separated for four years. After recently filing for divorce, Becca flies from Sydney, Australia to Whistler, Canada, to retrieve something valuable to her. She chooses to return to the home she and Van once shared on New Year's Eve, thinking Van would be with his family and not at the house. She could not have been more wrong. Van has recently found out something about Becca and he wants clarification. More importantly, he wants answers as to why Becca thought so little of their marriage and could throw it all away so easily.

Jet lag and emotional exhaustion kick in and Becca unexpectedly falls asleep in the bed she and Van once shared. She's startled awake by Van's presence and the stark realization that she's still attracted to him. Van is equally still attracted to Becca and it isn't long before they act on that attraction. Over the next several hours, the cycle of bitterness, unspoken truths, emotional confessions, lust, and passion play out on repeat. You get to know the characters through their memories and present self. Dani takes Becca, Van, and readers on an emotional roller coaster. I was exhausted, so I know the characters were. She really made these two open themselves up and be honest with themselves and each other. She showed that the foundation of a good marriage is communication first and foremost.

Dani might have shattered me with the story of One Snowbound New Year's Night, but she brought tears to my eyes with the epilogue. This is one story not to be missed.

When Canadian Dani Collins found romance novels in high school she wondered how one trained for such an awesome job. She wrote for over two decades without publishing, but remained inspired by the romance message that if you hang in there you'll find a happy ending. In May of 2012, Harlequin Presents bought her manuscript in a two-book deal. She's since published forty-five books with them and is definitely living happily ever after.
