Facing the past could change his future.
Veterinarian Neal Rodgers is in Wander Canyon seeking the truth about his past—not to rescue a litter of kittens under his next-door neighbor’s porch. But persistent single-mom Tessa Kennedy is impossible to ignore—especially when she uncovers a family secret of her own. Discovering the hidden facts of their histories could be the key to unlocking everything in this small town.
“You’re writing a novel?”
Tessa waved off the idea. “Or maybe just a town history. I don’t know. Silly, huh?”
“Maybe not. People have a need to know the stories of their ancestors. There’s a big hole when it’s missing.”
His choice of words caught her attention. “Are your folks gone?”
Now he’d done it. He’d let her questions and coffee and gentle eyes make him talk about more than he should have. Are your folks gone? There wasn’t a more complex question in the world for Neal.
They were gone, but they weren’t. For most of his life, Mom and Dad had been all he’d needed, even when he was old enough to grasp that they weren’t his biological parents. And then, about a year ago, something had begun to unravel. The big hole of his birth parents had begun to affect him in ways he couldn’t explain.
He ran his hands through his hair, not sure he wanted to get into this but not finding any graceful exit. “It’s a tricky business.”

ReplyDeleteSounds like a good story. I prefer puppies.
ReplyDeleteI would like to play with puppies! They are so roly poly and soft.
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'd better put some puppies in my next book! Thanks for hosting me.
ReplyDeleteHi Allie.
DeleteThank you for stopping by. You are very welcome. You know...That's a HARD call. I like when kittens are little because they aren't trying to claw you. Little puppies are cute, because they're running all over the place. I can't decide.
I love the cover.it sets the stage for the book.
