From Harlequin Medical: Life and love in the world of modern medicine.

I'm one of those readers who doesn't necessarily read the blurbs for books of authors I enjoy reading. Traci Douglass is on my list of authors that I enjoy, if not love. Thus, I didn't read the blurb for Island Reunion with the Single Dad. To say I was really confused in the beginning would be an understatement. I definitely need to start reading the blurb first. After reading it, the initial interactions made more sense.

10 years ago, when Morgan and Ely randomly met they really hit it off. She was visiting Whidbey Island, during a layover for her job and he was simply enjoying a college break. One thing led to another and they shared a memorable night. There were definitely plans to reconnect later but life happened. Now Ely's a divorced single father and Morgan is a prickly jaded widow.

Island Reunion with a Single Dad had all the elements for me to love it, including a second chance romance, surprise workplace romance, and a young kid. Ely and Morgan are each broken for various reasons, and those reasons are truly valid. My problem is that Morgan and Ely didn't burrow themselves into my heart. I understand their feelings and feel for them. I just didn't have the connection I wanted with them. The secondary characters of Dylan, Ely's son, his ex-wife, his brother, and his personal chef were great. They definitely added perspective to the story. I can actually see these characters being in a spin-off.

Island Reunion with a Single Dad is a second chance, slow burn, open door romance that feels more like a closed-door romance.
