Cover Design
Working closely with Regina Wamba, my trusted cover designer who has been the artistic genius behind all my book covers, we embarked on creating something truly distinctive for "The Flirt Alert."
My goal was to craft a cover that would not only capture the essence of the novel but also stand apart in the sea of romance novels adorned with flowers and soft palettes.
Regina and I brainstormed extensively, aiming to encapsulate the novel's central theme – a forced proximity romance – in a way that was both visually striking and unique. I think the concept we finally settled on is playful and suggestive, perfectly aligning with the spicy undercurrents of the story.
At the heart of our design is an image of a tiny ski patrol hut’s doors, slightly ajar –the very place where the MMC’s find themselves unexpectedly stranded.
The title, "The Flirt Alert," is positioned boldly between these doors, in bright blue font that’s both vibrant and impossible to overlook. Easy to read and hopefully compelling to pick up from a bookstore shelf.
To add an element of playfulness and spice, we incorporated a trail of discarded winter clothing leading up to the cabin's doors with a bra hanging off the lettering of the book title. This subtle but suggestive detail hints at the steamy scenes without the overt photo of a couple engaging in some sort of passionate embrace.
In other words, we wanted the image to pique curiosity and promise a tale filled with passion, laughter, and unexpected twists.
I hope what sets The Flirt Alert cover apart is the ability to convey a clear message – it’s undoubtedly a romance novel, but one with a unique story to tell. I also hope it stands out amongst the typical imagery used in romance novel discreet covers
The collaboration with Regina was seamless, her artistic flair blended perfectly with my vision for the book’s cover. All in all, I took a calculated risk, deviating from the norm, but that’s how I roll!
