Kim's Christmas Reads

It’s hard to believe we are only three days away from Christmas! I don’t know about you, but I feel ready and not ready at the same time.

Time has DEFINITELY gotten away from me. I’ve read more Christmas books than I’ve written reviews for. This post is to tell you about some Christmas books I’ve read and others I hope to get to soon.

Snow Place Like Home by Lacey Baker features a Grinch/Cindy Who romance. When it comes to Christmas, the heroine (Ella Wilson) is all Grinch. She just wants to bypass everything Christmas. Seth Hamil is Ella’s opposite. He LOVES Christmas and all it entails. The beauty of this romance is that Ella and Seth grew up together and had a secret crush on each other, but the other never knew. When Ella returns home for the holidays, the two are forced to work together and rekindle their friendship, and lose their hearts to each other. This is an inspirational romance, with church prominently featured.

Christmas in River’s Edge by Nan Reinhardt is the third and final book in her Weaver Sisters trilogy. The story features Weaver triplet Jenny, who is a single mother and works for her family’s marina business. The man who convinces Jenny to give love another try is someone from her past. Jenny and Gabe Dawson actually went to high school together. Gabe was the “geek” and Jenny was the cheerleader. The two didn’t run in the same circles, but they knew each other. In fact, Gabe had a crush on Jenny. Fifteen years later, the two reconnect at the high school reunion and decide to attempt to casually date. Gabe was first introduced or mentioned in Home to River’s Edge, the first book in the series. I KNEW then that I was going to LOVE him. I definitely did.

I’m currently reading Katie Mettner’s Candy Canes & Caroling. It’s the seventh and unfortunately final book in her Bells Pass series. I’m not that far into the story, as I can’t give you too many details. What I can tell you is the hero of this story is in a wheelchair and has been for close to his whole life. I don’t believe Irving Wallace has been in Bells Pass very long. Maybe only a year or so. He has this adorable German Shepard service dog named Star. Star is just everything. He’s not only dedicated to helping Irving, he’s smart and adorable. He knows how to get people to pet him. Irving’s love interest is also new to Bells Pass. Hazel Cane has moved from Florida to take a new job. The two will not only be working together, but they also live next to each other. From what I’ve gathered so far, Hazel comes to town with a little mystery following her. Together the two will work to make Bells Pass more accessible to those who have physical disabilities. I discovered Katie and Bells Pass last year and I immediately fell in love with the town and the people who live there.

I’m hoping to read Once Upon a Christmas Kiss (A Cozy Christmas Collection) by Ciara Knight, Brenda Lowder, Susan Carlisle, Terra Weiss, Susan Sands, and Christy Hayes. The book is currently on sale for 99 cents!!

Susan Carlisle’s Once Upon a Christmas Family is on my list to read.

Will the legendary book Once Upon a Christmas Kiss create another happily ever after?

After Justin Myers’s wife is killed in a violent crime in Los Angeles, he moves to Cherry Creek, Tennessee, hoping his in-laws will help bring stability to his young son’s life. He focuses on his job and his son while fighting through guilt that he contributed to the death of his wife.

Little does he know that Lizzie Williams, a waitress at the local diner, will complicate his life. She has abandonment issues stemming from her parents leaving her as a child. Lizzie's roots are firmly planted in Cherry Creek., her place of security. After getting to know Justin, the lore of the book has her believing there can be a true love, even for her, and that one person could want her forever.

Justin unlocks a world of possibilities for Lizzie empowering her to seize control of her destiny and go after her dreams with newfound strength. Rather than retreating from Justin’s emotional wounds, Lizzie resolves to give him unwavering support and compassion.

Together they work to find the compromise that will bring the best Christmas gift – a forever family.

Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey is another book staring at me, calling my name.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey delivers a sexy, hilarious standalone holiday rom-com about the adult children of two former rock stars who team up to convince their estranged mothers to play a Christmas Eve concert…

Melody Gallard may be the daughter of music royalty, but her world is far from glamorous. She spends her days restoring old books and avoiding the limelight (one awkward tabloid photo was enough, thanks). But when a producer offers her a lot of money to reunite her mother’s band on live tv, Mel begins to wonder if it’s time to rattle the cage, shake up her quiet life… and see him again. The only other person who could wrangle the rock and roll divas.

Beat Dawkins, the lead singer’s son, is Melody’s opposite—the camera loves him, he could charm the pants off anyone, and his mom is not a potential cult leader. Still, they might have been best friends if not for the legendary feud that broke up the band. When they met as teenagers, Mel felt an instant spark, but it’s nothing compared to the wild, intense attraction that builds as they embark on a madcap mission to convince their mothers to perform one last show.

While dealing with rock star shenanigans, a 24-hour film crew, brawling Santas, and mobs of adoring fans, Mel starts to step out of her comfort zone. With Beat by her side, cheering her on, she’s never felt so understood. But Christmas Eve is fast approaching, and a decades-old scandal is poised to wreck everything—the Steel Birds reunion, their relationships with their mothers, and their newfound love.

Then there’s Confessions of a Christmasholic by Joss Wood. At the time of this post, the book is on sale for 99 cents.

Grumpy meets Sunshine in this hilarious festive romcom that will have you wishing for a HEA!

Sutton Alsop hates Christmas. So much so, when confronted with a house that looks like Santa himself vomited Christmas all over it, she accidentally (drunkenly) destroys every fairy light, fake reindeer and candy cane in sight. Unfortunately for Sutton, this house belongs to none other than Gus Langston, single dad and owner of the village’s year-round Christmas shop – aka Mr Christmas himself.

But Mr Christmas has a secret only Sutton knows…

With the two of them forced together for the holidays, the sparks between them are hot enough to melt even the coldest of hearts!

I really love the sound of Snowed in for Christmas by Jacqueline Snowe

Fans of Christina Lauren and Maggie Knox will adore this fun and festive romcom featuring a grumpy/sunshine duo who find themselves stuck together over the holidays, where the weather outside is frightful—but inside, things are heating up in this sexy holiday story.

Sorority mom Becca Fairfield is used to guys not taking her seriously. She’s too blond, too quirky, or Just. Too. Much. So she’s ditched dating to focus on her job and a house filled with drama and plenty of tea. Now with the holidays and a major blizzard on her doorstep, Becca has everything she needs to survive the next two weeks on her own. Hot cocoa, plenty of books . . . and the memory of a steamy kiss with a certain sexy, grumposaurus next-door neighbor to keep her warm.

Only Becca’s seriously underestimated this Snowpocalypse. So when the power goes out and Harrison Cooper—football coach, master crank, and the guy who acted mega-awkward after said steamy kiss—offers her shelter, it only makes sense to accept. They’ll just be Blizzard Buddies. Hang out, stay safe, and maybe indulge in a little R-rated cuddling. Becca knows that Harrison isn’t the dating kind, and what happens during the storm lasts only as long as the storm. But are they keeping warm . . . or playing with fire?

I can’t forget Through the Snow Globe by Annie Rains

What if you could have one more day with someone you lost?

Diana Merriman, a physical therapist, is probably the only person in the small town of Snow Haven, North Carolina, who isn’t looking forward to Christmas. It’s been three weeks since her fiancĂ© Linus was critically injured when a car hit him as he biked home from the toy store he owns and manages. Watching him open his eyes is the only gift she wants, but she can’t help losing a little more hope every day.

But an unexpected visit from a friendly neighbor and finding a snow globe of Snow Haven—a gift Linus had hidden in the closet—the night before Christmas Eve changes things in ways Diana never would have imagined. Because on Christmas Eve Diana wakes up to find that it’s not—Christmas Eve, that is. Instead, it’s somehow December 4 all over again, the day Linus got hurt, and as mystified as Diana is, she immediately starts a plan to save her partner from his fate.

Nothing is that simple, of course. Instead of a single repeat of that day, Diana finds herself in an endless loop of December 4, experiencing every possible variation of events. Along the way, she uncovers startling truths about herself, her relationship, and even her career that illustrate the ways she’s retreated from her life—and in the face of life’s slights and outright blows, from her deepest feelings. Suddenly hope is second only to joy as Diana opens her heart to the people she loves in every way she can.

I've listed a lot of books. Fingers crossed I can read them all during Christmas break. But there are STILL MORE Christmas books on my reading wish list. I hope that you get a chance to read some of them.

Happy Holidays.

Kim
