Please introduce yourself to readers.
My name’s Sophie Brooks, and I’m in my early thirties. I’m a food blogger and social media influencer, and I’ve recently embraced the digital nomad lifestyle. Every three months, I pack up my life and move to a new location, immersing myself in its food, culture, and stories. Before this adventure, I co-owned a farm-to-table restaurant in Oregon. Now, I travel the world seeking incredible dishes, meeting fascinating people, and, apparently, solving mysteries.
Can you please tell us about some people we’ll meet in your story?
You’ll meet some incredible—and sometimes challenging—people in Wine & Whispers. There’s Oliver Reed, my best friend and editor. He’s the one who always knows how to keep me grounded, though he’s never shy about delivering a sassy remark. Then there’s Nate, a winemaker with a deep connection to his craft and a way of making me second-guess my boundaries. The locals in Sonoma are full of charm and secrets, which makes for great blogging material and even better mysteries. Detective Carter, the local cop, tends to see my involvement in cases as more meddling than helpful, but I like to think I’ve earned his grudging respect… eventually.
Tell me about a defining moment in your life.
One of the most defining moments in my life was uncovering my husband’s betrayal. It was devastating and forced me to confront the reality of a life I’d settled for. That heartbreak pushed me to take control of my own story. Selling my share of the restaurant and stepping into the unknown wasn’t easy, but it was liberating. That moment of heartbreak became the beginning of an incredible journey I never could have predicted.
What’s your most prized possession?
My journal. It’s where I jot down recipes, sketch ideas for blog posts, and even puzzle out clues to mysteries. It’s not just a collection of words; it’s a record of where I’ve been, who I’ve met, and what I’ve learned along the way. It’s my constant companion, even when everything else feels uncertain.
Why do you feel the need to put on your sleuthing hat and investigate murders?
I’ve always been curious, and when something doesn’t add up, it’s hard for me to let it go. I think part of it comes from my blogging background—researching, uncovering the story behind the story. But it’s also about doing the right thing. These aren’t just mysteries to solve; they’re people’s lives. If I can help uncover the truth and bring justice, it feels like something I have to do.

Readers can expect a blend of suspense, heartfelt moments, and, of course, delicious food and wine. The story is full of twists and turns, with plenty of secrets waiting to be uncovered.
