From Reflection to Awareness: Opening the Door Within
Self-reflection is like walking through a mirrored hallway that leads to a doorway marked self-awareness. Reflection invites you to pause and ask, “Is it time to look inside?” Awareness begins when you step through that door. On the other side are the unexplored rooms of your life, waiting to reveal their “aha” moments of self-realization. The two are inseparable, one naturally opening into the other.
For me, a simple message began my self-awareness journey: Love Ignites Peace. (You’ll find the full story inside the pages of Love Ignites Peace: Our Next Evolution.)
Even though my life looked fine from the outside, it carried shards of blame, shame, and anger toward people I believed had hurt me. I felt I would never be good enough for those who were supposed to love me. That never-ending roller coaster of drama drained the vitality from my days and left me exhausted.
The message Love Ignites Peace invited me to ask: How could I become love so that I could finally feel peace and joy? The answer was self-awareness.
Self-awareness became the gift I gave myself. It continues to shape my life. It is an ongoing process of pulling the weeds that choke confidence and keeping fear in out. Along the way, I discovered resilience, strength, and determination. Self-awareness revealed what was keeping me small and unhappy, and in doing so, uncovered the heart-centered, empowered person at my core.
If you’re wondering whether you’re ready to step through your own doorway of self-awareness, here are five questions for self-reflection:
- Am I willing to take a look inside myself?
- Can I be vulnerable with myself?
- Do I have the courage to begin this journey?
- Am I at least a little curious about what I might find?
- Do I trust myself enough to move forward?
Self-reflect, then dare to open the door marked self-awareness. The return on your experience will be worth every step.
PS: In Love Ignites Peace: Our Next Evolution, you’ll discover Love’s 6 Actions, a gentle framework that guides you further into self-awareness. They are the practices that turned my “aha” moments into lasting transformation.
So why love? Because love is the master builder that architects all things good both for you and our human community. Love encourages you to shine your light as bright as you can make it glow. You are never too much or not enough, you are just right. Love generates happiness. You have the ability to love yourself so much that it feels like you are growing sunshine in your heart and a prolific garden of goodness in your life. Love transforms the opposite of love (not-love) into healthy and empowered relationships. It creates prosperity and harmony. It sets healthy boundaries with unhealthy people. Love says that you matter, that you are important as a person, and that you are safe. Within all of your relationships, love unifies and brings people together. Love is the most powerful energy source on the planet. Love always triumphs over not-love because love, in her purest of forms, supports and nurtures life.
