When Merry Wynter’s festive gala takes a fatal turn, she’ll have to grill her guests to catch a killer...
After years of planning and hard work, Merry Wynter was finally ready to host the grand opening gala of the Wynter Woods Center for the Performing Arts. With musicians, entertainers, members of the media and even influencers on the guest list, the event went off without a hitch—until a particularly nasty journalist posted a criticism of the gala and everything Merry was trying to accomplish. Still reeling from the review days later, Merry wasn’t sure what to feel when she discovered the reporter’s dead body on the grounds of Wynter Castle.
With many of her guests staying on at the castle for the weekend, Merry realizes they’ve got a murderer in their midst. Going from celebrating to sleuthing, she discreetly questions each of them, trying to weed out the culprit. She quickly learns that the victim had heated arguments with several of the people at the gala, and it turns out those people were all connected by a tragedy in the past. Certain the killer is among them, Merry will have to unearth the final clue that nails the killer—before the killer decides she’s getting too close.
We Are the Cast of Thanks for Muffin!

I was thinking I would love to introduce readers to the characters of my Merry Muffin Mysteries and Thanks for Muffin in particular. Past readers will recognize some, but it never hurts to review! So, these are some of the folks who live in Thanks for Muffin:
From the Merry Muffin Mysteries:
Merry Grace Wynter: inherited Wynter Castle five years ago or so from a great uncle. Merry, a former plus-size model and stylist, has been struggling ever since to find a way to keep Wynter Castle, and perhaps she has finally figure it out with the help of…
Percival ‘Pish’ Lincoln: Merry’s business partner in the Wynter Woods Center for the Performing Arts and her best friend in the whole world. A former investment counsellor in New York City, he followed Merry to Autumn Vale, worried about her. But at Wynter Castle he, too, found a home.
Virgil Wynter Grace: Former Sheriff of Autumn Vale, now a local PI and Merry’s husband. He and Merry hit it off, and there was no going back from their passionate connection and chemistry.
Lizzie Turner: Former teen terror, now accomplished photographer. Lizzie has probably grown the most over the five years, as will happen in the late teen years. Now almost 20, Lizzie has discovered her true calling in photography, but she has been grappling with a secret for some time now, and comes home to try to tell Merry.
Hannah Moore: local librarian and so much more! Hannah, wheelchair bound but with a heart and determination bigger than her small frame, uses her deep intelligence to help Merry whenever she can, to investigate the murders that threaten to destroy the performing arts center before it even truly gets going.
From Thanks for Muffin:
Luxe Lyfe: Rapper and singer extraordinaire. Merry admires everything about the young woman’s fresh sense of style and enthralling voice.
Liliana Bartholomew: Opera Diva, member of the Lexington Opera Company. Her son, George (musician and music producer) has a long-term lease on one of the houses in the new Wynter Woods community. Merry found her hard to get to know at first, but has discovered the woman is warm and friendly, once you break through the calm exterior.
Margot Villiers: Acerbic fashion writer and commentator. Merry looks forward to meeting Margot, who is described as a modern-day Joan Rivers-type! Funny, but with a biting wit.
Sandy Paderewski: 90s pop princess, but also a talented songwriter/singer looking for a fresh start. Merry isn’t sure how to take her. Sandy takes offense easily, though she seems sweet enough. But is she hiding something from her past?
Mac Duncan: Oscar nominated actor trying to find his way back from a disastrous divorce. Mac, too, has a secret, but it seems like all of those gathered at Wynter Castle for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend are hiding something! Because so are…
Glengarry and Brenda Polk: Broadway impresario and his younger former actress wife. He is only at the gala as a favor to Pish. Brenda wasn’t originally going to accompany him, but suddenly decided to. Why?
Dan Sooner: Local shock journalist with an ax to grind. Let’s just say, the man has a lot of enemies.
Herman Ramsbottom: Herman is a hermit. He lives in a shed on the grounds after his job helping the landscaper finished some months ago. He shows no inclination to leave no matter how much Merry hints. She can’t figure out why.
Special mention: Becket, the ginger boy cat who Merry discovered living in the woods when she arrived at Wynter Castle! Her faithful company, Becket has made fast friends with Herman, the Hermit!
So… I hope readers enjoy meeting and getting to know the folks of Thanks for Muffin, and are ready for an intriguing and complicated murder mystery!
