At the time, King Varith Ariar stated that they meant them no harm and were looking for something. Once they found what they were looking for, they would leave and return to their home realm of Elaerion. When the elves first arrived, humans were afraid of them, but still in awe of them. Now humans and elves exist separately. They may all go to the same schools, but they don’t generally interact with each other.
Seven years ago, Quinn and her brother Michael were kids who were enamoured with elves and studied everything they could about them. But that all changed when, before her eyes, elves appeared, killing her father and taking her brother. Since then, Quinn has vowed to get revenge on the elves. Which is how she finds herself studying linguistics at Harvard and cursing the very ground Prince Daerios Ariar walks on because he has taken yet another book she needs for an assignment out of the library. Their face-to-face first meeting sets the tone for the book and lets you know what their relationship is going to be like.
As I said, I loved Prince of the Sun. Quinn and Daerios banter like no one I have ever seen. Their chemistry is off the charts. While their romance is forbidden, they couldn’t stop themselves if they tried. And I’m pretty sure they tried. They are truly the best couple ever. If Quinn and Daerios are not enough to make you laugh, there’s also their best friends, Cara Ravenscroft and Berendir Melde. Who I’m sure turn out to be a low-key couple; there’s definitely some attraction there. Cara and Berendir provide additional humor. But make no mistake, both couples can be serious when they have to be.
Prince of the Sun isn’t all fun and games. Things get serious when it’s revealed what the elves are after, and these four step up to save the day.
If you’re looking for a fun, low-anxiety romantic fantasy that’s fun and humorous, Emma Noyes’s Prince of the Sun is the obvious choice.
