Darcy Trent is lucky Cooper Hudson is on hand to sweep her off her feet—literally—when she nearly drowns while swimming in the ocean. But life-saving aside, Mr. Perfect's timing stinks: Darcy's career is about to take her to the complete opposite side of the Atlantic. Still, a little summer loving with the tall, blond and sexy former cop is far too tempting to pass up.
When his plans to enter the Secret Service went south thanks to a bum knee, Coop retreated to the family beach house to mull his future. Romance is the last thing on his mind, until he fishes a curvy brunette out of the sea. Now, spending time in Darcy's arms seems like the ideal distraction, even if it is just for a week.
But with Darcy's departure date fast approaching and their careers on the line, can they realize in time that their beach fling might become the real thing?
REVIEW
Oh my gosh... Love at High Tide is so much more than I bargained for. Not only do you get the humor and sex you usually get from Christi Barth, you also get a little mini-mystery. Picking up this book immediately had me feeling like I was in my own little comfort zone. It was like drinking hot chocolate on a cold winter's day. I immediately started smiling and was reminded why I love Christi so much.
Christi does a wonderful job of telling a story. She has hot sexy moments, without them being too graphic. The characters are all people you can love. I can't help but wonder if there's going to be a follow- up book. I mean Darcy's best friend Trina is quirky and funny. She’s actually rather enduring as long as you don't have to be around her all the time. Darcy and Trina balance each other since Darcy is so serious all the time. Cooper is to die for. He’s lost his way career wise and is just hanging out at his family’s beach house, wishing he could avoid them. Then there's Brad, Cooper's cousin. He doesn't have as big a part in the book as Trina does but there's potential with him.
Love at High Tide is being touted as a summer beach read. That's all fine and dandy... However, I would only recommend reading this at the beach if you have an umbrella to shield yourself from the sun. Because once you start reading this book you aren't going to want to put it down. And that, could lead to some SERIOUS sunburn.
This is a really good read. And if you aren't familiar with Christi, a good place to start. It's different from her other books, in that you have two best friends being ameuther sleuths, putting themselves in danger and not even realizing it. Be prepared to laugh, smile, and fall in love.
