In this freshly baked series, author Maddie Day lifts the lid on a small town in southern Indiana, where a newcomer is cooking up a new start--until a murderer muddles the recipe...

Nursing a broken heart, Robbie Jordan is trading in her life on the West Coast for the rolling hills of southern Indiana. After paying a visit to her Aunt Adele, she fell in love with the tiny town of South Lick. And when she spots a For Sale sign on a rundown country store, she decides to snap it up and put her skills as a cook and a carpenter to use. Everyone in town shows up for the grand re-opening of Pans ‘n Pancakes, but when the mayor's disagreeable assistant is found dead, Robbie realizes that not all press is good press. With all eyes on her, she'll have to summon her puzzle-solving skills to clear her name, unscramble the town's darkest secrets, and track down a cold-blooded killer--before she's the next to die...

REVIEW
Welcome to South Lick, Indiana.  You're just in time for the opening of Pans and Pancakes, the country store/restaurant recently opened by Roberta "Robbie" Jordan. After a successful grand opening, the future of Robbie and that of her store are up in the air.  Robbie has become a person of interest in a murder investigation and all the circumstantial evidence points to her.

Murder victim Stella Rogers was a know-it-all, controlling woman, who seemed to know the secrets of half the town's citizens.  It was even rumored she was blackmailing people.  There’s no shortage of people who wanted her out of their lives.  But the question of who wanted her dead is the key to proving Robbie’s innocence.

Maddie Day is a pseudonym for mystery author Edith Maxwell.  Both authors are new to me and I wasn't quite sure what to expect.  I'm happy to say I got everything I look for in a cozy mystery, from likeable characters to a mini romance or two, and a nice, intriguing mystery.

Flipped for Murder is a nice start to the Country Store Mystery series.  I’m looking forward to Grilled for Murder to see how Robbie’s romantic life turns out and to watch her clear the name of a friend.
