The Sutherlands: One Family Saga just came out. What can you tell me about this anthology?
The Sutherlands is the perfect anthology for people like me who like to binge read. All of the stories involve members of the Sutherland family. It really is one family saga with 10 sexy stories from some really fabulous authors!
The authors included in this anthology are amazing. How did this idea all come together?
Really it was a great chance to do good and have fun with some writers I just love. When I approached Robin Covington, Kelly Jamieson, Terri Osburn, Alison Bliss, Shyla Colt, Abby Niles, Julie Particka, Joya Ryan and Naima Simone and told them I had this crazy idea, they were all in. It was a blast!
I found myself reading the book and wondering about the older generation. Is there anywhere readers can get a pique or read the stories of the elder Sutherlands?
We don’t have any of their stories, but it’s a great idea!
Readers were first introduced to Bianca Sutherland and Taz Hazard in Bullet Proof, which was part of the MacKenzie Family Novella series, how do they fit in two different series?
What a crazy story. Well, Taz and Bianca met because of mutual friends in Liliana Hart’s MacKenzie world. And Bianca is a Sutherland so it fit in perfectly with the anthology too. Also, when I was writing Bulletproof (the first Taz and Bianca story), I knew it had to be a novella but I really wanted to give readers more of their story so in Brazen the happy couple is blasted apart and Taz has some major groveling to do to get his girl back.
Your contribution to the anthology is Brazen, which as mentioned features Bianca and Taz. How did you come up with the name of the book?
It’s part of my new B-Squad series and all of the books start with a B word. I thought it would be a really fun way to tie the books together and make it easy for readers to identify them.
I have to admit Brazen blew me away. I loved the chemistry between Bianca and Taz. What is it you love about them?
Oh they are such a mess. I love the fact that they really are two sides of the same coin. Taz is so alpha and stubborn and bossy, but all of that rolls right off Bianca. She is a woman who knows her own heart and her own place and no one’s going to deter her. Taz respects that. I think that is the hottest thing about him - he is not intimidated by such a strong, smart woman.
Brazen has a cast of characters, who are friends of either Bianca or Taz. These men and women are amazing in their own rights and skill sets. What can you tell me about them?
Each of the women in B-Squad are all old friends of Bianca’s from the rich girls’ reformatory school that she went to. They are so much crazy fun. There is Vivi who used to be a DEA agent, Lexi who is a computer hacker, Elisa who is the perfect con artist and Gidget who has been kidnapped and in upcoming books will bring her own flair to B-Squad Security and Investigations. On the dude’s side, all of the men are Taz’s childhood friends. Here’s how Bianca describes them:
“Six-foot-three, heavily tattooed with a too-pretty-for-words, male model face and the kind of muscles that made other muscles jealous, Keir—the resident fixer—swaggered into the room. The rest of the guys filed in behind him, each as tall and muscular as the one who came before. Vividly tattooed and bearded Marko Pike, with his gruff, one-syllable answers, was the man to know if you wanted to blow things up or bash heads in. Fast-talking Lash Finch, with his dark good looks and killer brains, could take out a target with a sniper rifle from an obscene distance or use his hands up close and personal without a twinge of conscience. Duke Trino, the resident ginger, had enough sex appeal and devious charm to get a person to agree to just about anything, and gathered secrets about people like squirrels collected acorns in the fall, which made him the perfect infiltration operative.
Their Romany heritage showed through in their unique names and their tawny brown skin. Trained on the street and in elite units of the military, they were dangerous, skilled and strutted down the skinny gray line between legal and not with a don’t-give-a-fuck shrug. They were not the kind of men you wanted to mess with and—not for the first time—she was glad they were all on the same side.”
Tell me about the B-Squad.
The B-Squad is a security and investigations team. Imagine if the A-Team and Charlie’s Angels got together and had a sexy action adventure team baby. That would be the B-Squad.
Everytime I turn around, you seem to have something new coming out. You and Kimberly Kincaid must have some serious writing sessions, and here I thought you guys were just goofing off, looking at man candy. What’s next for you?
Ha! I have a really fun book for Entangled Indulgence coming out in May called His Undercover Princess. It starts with a kidnapping and ends with a coronation with plenty of fun (and sexy) twists and turns along the way. It’s the hero who kidnaps the princess who has no interest in the tiara. LOL After that there will be two more B-Squad books this year so get ready for some crazy, sexy fun!
