Jessica Scott - Anything for You Guest Post & Review

From the author of Because of You comes an all new Coming Home short story.
Sergeant First Class Shane Garrison has spent a year recovering from his combat injuries.  A year spent in the arms of the woman of his dreams.  But loving Jen comes with a price: everytime he touches her, he faces the uncertain fear that loving her might mean losing her forever.

Jen is a breast cancer survivor and with Shane, she’s found a man who loves her despite her scars.  But her scars may be too much for their love to survive.

As their love grows, so does the risk to Jen’s life.  And Shane must make the toughest decision any man can make to save the woman he loves.

I CAN'T tell you how excited I am to have Jessica Scott stopping by to do a guest post here at Read Your Writes Book Reviews.  (Can’t you just hear my high pitch scream now?)  I remember meeting her at RWA in Anaheim last year.  I was so scared.  Okay, well I was scared to meet everyone.  But Jessica was SOOOO nice to me!

Valentine’s Day was last week.  Me personally, I don’t get into the whole Valentine’s Day thing.  I mean really, you have some people who think that Valentine’s Day is the only day you can show love and appreciation for your significant other.  NO! You love me and I love you, so we have to show it and share it 365 days a year.

Jessica’s Coming Home Series is all about members of the military.  These men and women have it pretty hard.  They get separated from their loved ones and holidays tend to be just another day that they don’t get to see them or speak with them.  So romance can be pretty hard to pull off.  Check out Jessica’s guest post and find out what romance is to her.

Thanks so much for having me here today! February it seems is all about Valentine’s Day but I'm an old married woman and well, for me, romance isn't just one day a year.

My husband and I are both in the army and so we've learned over the years that we have to make time for each other.  Those magical moments take work to pull off, especially when we both work and have a legion of pets and two kids.

My husband loves to fish.  And by love I mean if he could move down to a shack on Lake Falcon and fish every day for the rest of his life, he would.  And while fishing isn't my preferred leisure activity, spending time with my husband is.  We recently took a trip down to Lake Falcon and the fishing there is just awesome.  But the best part was getting away from all the stress and worries of daily life, cooking over a cheap coal grill and spending a nice summer day just relaxing with the family.  That's romance, in my book.

Shane and Jen in Anything for You spend Valentine’s Day in a nontraditional way, too.  I hope you'll check them out because nontraditional romance is sometimes the best romance.

I’m giving away a digital copy of ANYTHING FOR YOU as well as Shane & Jen’s first story BECAUSE OF YOU to one lucky commenter!

To enter, just leave a comment below.  Open to everyone through February 22nd.

About Jess
Jessica Scott is a career army officer, mother of two daughters, three cats and three dogs, wife to a career NCO and wrangler of all things stuffed and fluffy.  She is a terrible cook and even worse housekeeper, but she's a pretty good shot with her assigned weapon and someone liked some of the stuff she wrote.  Somehow, her children are pretty well adjusted and her husband still loves her, despite burned water and a messy house.

Oprah has called her.  True story!

Her debut novel BECAUSE OF YOU launched Loveswept, the first Random House digital imprint.

She's written for the New York Times At War Blog, PBS Point of View Regarding War, and IAVA.  She deployed to Iraq in 2009 as part of OIF/New Dawn and is currently a company commander stationed at Fort Hood.

Most recently, she's been featured as one of Esquire Magazine's Americans of the Year for 2012.

Connecting with Jessica Scott:

Jessica first introduced readers to Shane Garrison and Jen St. James in Because of You.  If you are a fan of Shane and Jen you are going to love this book.  Even if you haven’t read Because of You, like me, you’re going to love this book.

In Because of You, Sergeant First Class Shane Garrison was almost killed in Iraq.  Once back stateside, Jen was his nurse.  Even before Jen and Shane spent time together trying to get Shane back on his feet, they shared a memorable kiss before he left for Iraq.  Spending so much time together allowed Jen and Shane to fall in love with each other.

Anything for You picks up where Because of You left off. Even though I haven’t read Because of You, I have read various excerpts and I immediately fell in love with these characters.  It’s no wonder they won’t let Jessica put them to rest.  You can completely feel the love these two have for each other.

Anything for You is a short story that will allow you to see and feel the love these two have for each other.  It’s about what they’re willing to give up to make sure the other is safe.  This is a story that will have you laughing.  It will also leave you wanting more of Jen and Shane and their incredible love story.
