Escape to New Zealand #4
What if the person who broke your heart turned out to be the only one who could mend it?
Nic Wilkinson is a responsible, organized, disciplined rugby player at the top of his game. Emma Martens is a sometimes-scattered, often-emotional, and always-broke would-be designer with a big chip on her shoulder where Nic's concerned.
They have no history together, except one perfect week. Nothing in common anymore, except the most important thing of all.
Getting together again would be messy. Complicated. Scary. And, just maybe, worth every risk.
Just for Fun is the fourth book in the Escape to New Zealand series, however it is the first book I’ve read. I can tell you without a doubt, the book is a standalone and you will not be lost starting with this book.
Nic Wilkinson and Emma Martens met on a flight to Fiji seven years ago. Nic was twenty two and Emma was twenty one. Emma was on what was supposed to be her honeymoon. Yep, you read right. Her honeymoon, only she was traveling alone. A couple of hours before her wedding, her fiancĂ© told her that he didn’t want to be with her and suggested she take the trip, since it was non-refundable and the new lady in his life had tests to study for. Nic was traveling to Fiji just to enjoy a little vacation. Upon realizing that Emma is alone, he jokingly suggests that they share her honeymoon together. So they did. They had a magical week together, with Nic promising that he would call her.
Unfortunately for Emma, that call was never made. In fact, Emma made SEVERAL attempts to contact Nic herself, only to be dismissed by people associated with him. Now, fast forward six years and Nic and Emma come face to face again. This time, Nic is on Emma’s doorstep demanding to know if the little boy who looks just like him is his.
Unlike a lot of stories with the same basic elements, Nic isn’t trying to run away from being a father. He’s trying his hardest to embrace it. He wants to have his son, Zack, in his life and immediately makes plans to make up for lost time and give Zack everything he needs. At this point, the only thing standing in Nic’s way is his fiancĂ©e, Claudia. I could go on and on about Claudia’s faults, but I’m going to just let you figure all of those out yourself. However, I will say she is shallow beyond belief. But she does come through for Nic, when he REALLY needs her the most.
I don’t know about the other books in this series, but Just for Fun is a nice little happy ever after read with a little heartbreak and drama thrown into the mix.
Just for Fun is a book about second chances and true loves and realizing that sometimes you just have to have faith.
