5 Star Review ~ I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS by Jessica Scott

There's nothing in the world Army Sergeant Vic Carponti loves more than his wife and his country. Smart-mouthed and easy tempered, he takes everything as a joke . . . except his promise to come home to his wife, Nicole, for Christmas. As he prepares to leave for his latest deployment into Iraq, Vic will do everything he can to shield his beautiful, supportive wife from the realities of war . . . and from his own darkest fears.

As a career army wife, Nicole Carponti knows just what to expect from her husband's tour of duty: loneliness, relentless worry, and a seemingly endless countdown until the moment Vic walks through the door again. But when the unthinkable happens, Nicole and Vic's bond is tested like never before and changes everything they believe to be true about the power of love and the simple beauty of being home for the holidays.

REVIEW

I have to admit, initially when I started reading this book, I got a little confused.  This novella doesn’t pick up where the last book/novella left off.  It goes back to the first book in the series, Because of You and runs parallel with that book.  I’ll Be Home for Christmas gives you a look into the deployment of Vic Carponti and his team from Fort Hood in early 2007 through the eyes of Vic and his wife Nicole.

I love this book for the true romance of it.  And what I mean by that, is that you can truly feel the love that the Carpontis have for one another oozing from the pages.  There is nothing more romantic than pure love.

I’ll Be Home for Christmas is the story of a married couple dealing with the separation of deployment and the fallout of what happens when an explosion rocks their world.  Vic is a man who obviously learned to live his life by making a joke out of everything.  His comic relief is what people need in order to get through tough situations and when he gets injured and has to live with his new reality, his sense of humor is what he relies on to get him and his wife that he loves more than anything through it all.

This book will give you laugh out loud moments, tender moments, and moments when you will forget to breathe.  But most importantly of all, I’ll Be Home for Christmas will teach you that true love can conquer all and home is really and truly where the heart is.  It's simply a feel good story.

    1. Kimberly, it's a really good book. I don't usually give out 5 stars. The book was just that good. I need to go back and read the first book. Just hoping I don't cry. I love the hero in that book.
