Nate DeLuca and Frankie (Francesca) Baudouin have had a history since high school and it's no secret they don't get along. Their families have been feuding for decades. When the Sorrento Ranch comes up for sell, Frankie purchases it much to the objection of Nate and his family. To say this doesn’t go over well is an understatement. Frankie and Nate bicker until the dispute lands them both in jail. The fun is just beginning.
The judge gives them 30 days to work things out or he will bulldoze the property. Frankie and Nate must live together in the house, which is right smack in the middle of the Vineyard. The feuding will stop one way or another.
Frankie is out to prove to herself and her family that she can do something important on her own. It's great to see the support she gets. While Frankie and Nate are living together and making some changes that benefit the Vineyard, they start to discover things about each other. Nate really sees the real Frankie. He starts to feel bad for what he did to her so long ago. She has lost so much and it has really been tough on her. Nate is the only person Frankie has ever told. They both have their own agendas. Nate’s loyalty is with his family and Frankie’s is to herself. Things start to change in a good way.
I loved Autumn in the Vineyard. The story was full of heart, fun, laughter, and had me tearing up as well. This is my second time reading a book of Marina Adair and I'm hooked on this series. I’m looking forward to the next one.
My favorite line is: “I won't shoot him,” Frankie said. Jonah spared her a disbelieving glance. “Fine, I might shoot at him, but I wouldn't shoot him.”
