Few can say their family business is ruling the varying levels of hell. Nor can many admit to having Cerberus, Minos and Phlegyas as their 'staff'. Derek Wescott can. He commands the eighth circle of hell and wants the ninth. His mum has a condition though - a grandchild. Not happening when the Prince of Hell is single, something his three minions decide to rectify. Their boss needs to get laid and Derek is thrown into his own personal hell...online dating.
His date? Jaclyn Reynolds. A sweet yet seemingly plain and dull woman who runs a foundation for homeless kids. She is not his type...
"He didn’t like homely, needy girls. He liked them busty, blonde, and superficial."
But underneath the mousy exterior is a lady who has fire, determination and simply dreams of finding the right guy to end her loneliness. And when they meet the sparks fly as do the insults, but it ends on a bet.
"You spend the night with me without ending up in my bed, and I'll throw in $10,000 for your shelter."
Who wins is for you to find out but it's a sexy, witty journey in doing so with some heartfelt moments thrown in the mix. Derek was a perfect blend of charming and arrogant and his and Jacklyn's chemistry held plenty heat but was also touching. I loved how hell and its purpose were portrayed and with little unexpected surprises, characters that I despised and an epilogue that made me laugh, it was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
