Twenty-five and never been kissed, Jenna Raynes is a beautiful woman with a rubenesque figure often overlooked by men. In the mood for a little honey, the sassy new schoolteacher is stopped in her tracks by one growled word from an alpha bear…“Mine.”
Bern Helms’ inner bear catches the scent of his destined mate. His animal’s desire is drawn to her curves, but Jenna is human, and not lured to him by instinct. Convincing her begins as a sizzling, sweet affair that is soon spoiled by danger. In their small backwater town, nerves are strung taut. Someone is abducting shifter children.
When confronted, Jenna is as protective of her students as a mamma bear. For Bern, all bets are off when the kidnapper’s take Jenna too. Nothing will keep a bear from his mate. The hunters will become the hunted…
It only took about ten minutes for the room to clear out and leave only Jenna, Sarah and Hans. Jenna extended a hand to Sarah. “Okay, little girl, let’s go!” Swinging hands, Jenna and Sarah walked ahead of Hans out to the playground.
Hans took up his usual spot on the bench and watched as Jenna pushed Sarah on the swings. “Do you want to sing a song?” Jenna asked.
“I don’t know. What kind of song? I don’t really know any songs?”
“How about Five Little Monkey’s Swingin’ in a Tree?” Jenna tickled her, and Sarah laughed. “Because you’re a silly little monkey.”
“Am not,” she squealed. “I’m a big ole bear!”
Jenna stilled and stopped the swing, something was wrong, she could feel it. She turned to look at Hans and saw him slumped on the bench. “Hans!” she shouted and he didn’t respond.
She grabbed Sarah and started running toward the school, whispering in her ear. “Something is wrong. If something happens to me, you get to the school. Lock yourself in my room. Hide. Stay safe.” Jenna could feel the tiny body in her arms trembling.
Claws sprouted from the ends of Jenna’s hands, well that was new. Footsteps sounded behind them, thundering closer. Senses on overload, Jenna heard something whistle through the air and then a thunk and a sharp pain in her neck, she fell to her knees, Sarah still clutched in her arms. “Run, Sarah, run,” was all she managed before everything went black.

Hi Tamara. Welcome back to Read Your Writes Book Reviews.
Thank you Kim! I’m happy to be here.
Usually, you write contemporary romances with cowboy heroes. What was it like to write a paranormal romance?
It was so much fun! I’ve always wanted to write paranormal romance, I just never had a story come to mind. Hers to Bear came to me and then a whole series came with it.
Tell me about Hers to Bear, something I'm not going to find in the blurb.
The characters are so endearing! I fell in love with the town of Honey Corners. Bern and his sisters were hilarious together, they reminded me of a big family I knew growing up. The whole clan is one big family and just loved the camaraderie, banter and support they had with each other.
I love the name of your town. Was there anything about the book which surprised? (i.e. the characters, twists or turns)
Haha, yeah, I set out to write one book and the characters jumped up and said, I need a book, me too, me too! And it turned into 5 books! LOL
I LOVE when characters insist that a story be written about them. Hers to Bear is the first book in your Animal in Me Series, what else can readers expect from you?
In this series or elsewhere? As I said there are 4 more books in this series. I am also currently working on a military romance called Changing Tides, about a widowed military wife and a Navy surgeon.
Tamara, thank you for taking the time to talk to me. Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?
I know this is a new genre for me, but I hope y’all will give it chance. Hers to Bear is my favorite book of mine so far! Thanks so much for having me today, Kim. Happy reading!
Wow, your favorite of your books! I read a couple of the excerpts and I thought, “Need to read this.” But now, I definately have to find time in my reading schedule to read Hers to Bear. Thanks again Tamara.
