His First and Last (Ardent Springs Series, #1)
by: Terri Osburn
Series: Ardent Springs
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 21, 2015

At eighteen, Lorelei Pratchett couldn’t wait to get out of her hometown. Twelve years later, her Hollywood dreams have fizzled and she’s back—temporarily, she thinks. Though she throws herself into saving the old theater and starting a baking business, small towns have long memories, and Lorelei’s wild past still haunts her. It doesn’t help that her ex-boyfriend, Spencer Boyd, is even hotter, smarter, and more distracting than before.

The fiery Lorelei that Spencer knew years ago may have become closed off and cautious, but their chemistry hasn’t faded one bit. Losing her a second time is unthinkable to him, yet Lorelei is convinced she doesn’t belong in Ardent Springs. Somehow, Spencer needs to show her that everything she needs is right here: family, friendship, new beginnings…and a man who’s never stopped loving her.

Warm, sexy, and laugh-out-loud funny, His First and Last is an irresistible story of first love and second chances.
REVIEW

Twelve years ago, Lorelei Pratchett gave the middle finger to the people and town of Ardent Springs, Tennessee.  In doing so, she also turned her back on her high school sweetheart and fiancĂ©, Spencer Boyd, and to a certain extent, her grandmother.  Eighteen-year-old Lorelei had big time Hollywood dreams and wanted to be an actress.  She definitely wanted more than small-town Ardent Springs could offer, with its closed-mindedness and small-town gossip and ridicule.  She’s about to find out that memories are long and some things never change.

For only being thirty-years-old, Spencer Boyd has been through a lot.  He’s survived losing the love of his life at a young age, overcome being raised by a less than desirable single mother on the wrong side of the tracks, and the loss of something truly precious.  After more than a decade, he’s grown as a person and when Lorelei comes back into town, he has no intentions of letting her get away again.

What I loved about His First and Last is really Spencer.  He never once doubted Lorelei’s ability to overcome her past and stand on her own two feet.  I loved that he’s one of those people who would do whatever he can to help anyone.  I loved watching Lorelei progress from a woman with a chip on her shoulders to one whose inventive, with the ability to think of someone else besides herself.

If I’m being honest, I might not have truly went into reading this book with an open mind.  I mean, I loved Terri Osburn’s Anchor Island Series and that’s a pretty hard series to compete against.  But His First and Last is a great beginning to her new Ardent Springs Series.  This is a wonderful second chance story with really good characters, both main and secondary.  If you’re looking for a book about love, loss, and rediscovery, this is the book for you.
