The Enchanted Village is abuzz when the old Tavistock house finally goes up for sale. Darcy’s friend Curecrafter Cherise Goodwin is hoping she will have the winning bid on the home, but Darcy can’t shake the feeling that something bad is about to happen—and her magical instincts are usually right.

Sure enough, while Darcy and Cherise are looking at the property, they discover real estate agent Raina Gallagher stone-cold dead on the floor. Clutched in her hand is a gemstone amulet and, on the wall above her, a large red A. While Raina had no shortage of enemies, there’s also a dark legend about the house itself. To track down the killer, Darcy must unlock the secrets of both the deceased and the estate—and she’ll need to act fast, because revenge is a deal that never closes.…

REVIEW
When it came time to read Some Like it Witchy, I knew I really wanted to read the book for its magical enchantment.  However, with it being the fifth book in the series, I was worried I wouldn’t understand the character relationships and backstories.  I’m happy to say this book is a standalone read, with minor past issues that aren’t important to the story.

Told in first person, Some Like it Witchy marks my first time reading Heather Blake and the book drew me in from the opening sentence.  Darcy Merriweather is a wishcrafter (a witch who has the ability to grant wishes with a special spell) and a personal concierge for As You Wish, her aunt’s business. She’s also been tasked with the job of investigator for the Enchanted Village by the Elder.

Darcy has been hired by Cherise Goodwin to help her find a house to purchase. When the two show up at Tavistock house (long rumored to be a stash house for diamonds stolen years previously) expecting to have one final look at the property, they discover the body of real estate agent Raina Gallagher.  The Elder puts Darcy on the case and she must determine who killed Raina and why.  Was it a burglary gone bad or was Raina always the target?

I loved losing myself in this story, trying to figure out along with Darcy who killed Raina and why.  I also loved discovering about the Enchanted Village (a themed tourist neighborhood of Salem, Massachusetts) and all the people/animals who live there.  Along with solving the case, Darcy also makes some interesting discoveries about herself and those around her.

With surprises and funny moments, Some Like it Witchy is a fabulous read.  I am definitely looking forward to returning to the Enchanted Village and reading more of the Wishcraft Mystery Series.
