Sophia had fled New York and the feelings that a certain detective had stirred within her. Now she found herself alone in LA on New Year’s Eve, the former goddess of love reduced to having to look for a date. Hitting the Sunset Strip she finds the last thing she was looking for, but exactly who she was yearning for, Detective Bruce Stoker in the flesh. A night of passion leaves her with high hopes for the future, until an art heist threatens everything.
Bruce had followed Sophia across the country in order to rekindle the passion he felt during their one night together and to get some much needed answers from her about who he really was, what she really was. Just when he thought he would get his answers, Bruce begins to wonder if he can truly trust Sophia at all. Only time and a mystery will tell.
Sophia and Bruce return in Stealing Hearts, technically the third book in the Gods Behaving Badly Series. While you don’t have to read the two previous books, to appreciate Stealing Hearts, you do have to read Looted to understand the characters history. Also, some events from Lost Souls are referred to.
Stealing Hearts has Bruce traveling across country to locate Sophia, in hopes they will be able to continue where they left off in New York and also get some answers as to who he is. Additional gods are introduced and you’re left wondering more about who Bruce is and how he came to be. The story ends in a cliffhanger that will only leave you wanting more. I really like this series and can’t wait to find out what other adventures Sheri Velarde has in store for these characters and the other gods. I have the feeling a war is coming.
