REVIEW
When I started reading The Heart of It, I wasn’t sure what to expect.  The story is that of Gabe Paterson, who was abused as a child by someone he was close to.  In a desperate attempt to forge intimate relationships without the aid of alcohol, he turns to a high-priced call girl.

What I loved about this story was the fact that even though Gabe experienced something truly awful, he is still a caring and compassionate man.  Elena has her own childhood issues that she hasn’t really faced.  But together in a moment of pure selflessness, they push each other to truly face their pasts.

It’s true their pasts will always be a part of them, making them who they are today. But The Heart of It shows that you can overcome your past and have a happy, healthy life.  This is a happy for now story but my imagination is in overdrive, imagining these two being together forever.
