LOVE TO THE RESCUE
Macayla Burkett is no ordinary private eye. She’s a pet detective, dedicated to tracking down missing dogs and cats. When two famous racing greyhounds disappear and turn up dead, Macayla finds herself in the midst of a much more serious case. And when the thieves target her and threaten her life, she realizes she’s in grave danger—until a ridiculously handsome stranger enters the picture …
Oliver Kelly may look like a male stripper, but his muscles aren’t just for show. The gorgeous Australian is co-owner of a K-9 Search and Rescue service dedicated to saving those in danger. When he and his K-9 partner, an Australian shepherd named Jackeroo, rescue the fiery detective from trouble, the sparks begin to fly. And when they join forces to stop a widespread case of animal theft, it unleashes a torrent of passion that’s impossible to tame…
Physical Forces is another installment of D.D. Ayres’ K-9 Rescue Series but it is a standalone read. This time, the focus is on Search and Rescue Guru and Aussie Oliver Kelly who becomes enamored with Pet Detective Macayla “Mac” Burkett while he is in Florida to speak at a SAR conference. Thinking that Mac is a damsel in distress, Oliver quickly comes to her rescue and soon learns that the petite and outspoken woman is nothing like the women that usually throw themselves at his feet. She doesn’t want his help and actually believes that he is a member of an Australian Exotic Dance Troupe. Although they clearly have some physical attraction to each other, Mac makes a failed attempt to keep Oliver at bay. More importantly, we soon find out that Mac’s life is in danger and she is being set-up to take the fall for crimes she didn’t commit.
The overall premise of Physical Forces isn’t unique. The only thing that stops it from being totally cliché is the fact that it was at least a very fun book to read. Both Mac and Oliver have some secrets in their past that eventually come up to the surface which allow them to get closer to each other. Things happen so fast that it’s not totally believable, considering the way that they met. Oliver allowed himself to be vulnerable with Mac and she opened up to him and stopped hiding from who she was. To take things up a notch, most of the sex occurs outside of a bedroom and is definitely hot. There is a little bit of mystery and suspense to add to the story and I didn’t exactly like the way that it all wrapped up. I felt like Oliver’s character and his expertise should have played a larger role but…I did enjoy Physical Forces but I felt like it could have had a little more depth to it. I have read a few other books in this series which I felt were more complete.

Hi Nadene,
DeleteDefinitely liked out books in this series more.
Thanks for stopping by.
I'm really enjoy the books in this series. I just finished Primal Force and it's my favorite so far. I like that the books can stand-a-lone and the K9's are wonderful and adorable. Thank's for the review.

Hello.
DeleteMissed Primal Force. I have a serious thing for K-9 dogs. I actually find myself talking to the dogs and not the actual people.
Thanks for stopping by. I'll see you around.
I've had fun with this series in the past. I missed this one (time constraints ugh!) and will have to get back to it. Bummer on it not feeling totally fleshed out, though.
