But knowing Paxton is due to leave after the festive season, can Lauren risk giving him her heart and her little boy a daddy for Christmas?
Hi Susan. Welcome to Read Your Writes Book Reviews. How are you?
Great! Thanks for having me.
You are very welcome. Congratulations on the release of A Daddy Sent by Santa. I love the cover. The little boy looks really adorable. Do you have a say in your covers?
No, but I think the art and marketing people at Harlequin did a great job with this one. Super cute kid.
How do you get into the “Christmas spirit” to write a story, when it’s at least 80 degrees outside?
LOL. I think that might be the best time. I always have snow in my Christmas books so it is nice to write about it when it is hot. I also love the Christmas season. I like to decorate, so to do so in my books is fun for me. I get to do things in them I don’t do in my home.
Tell me about A Daddy Sent by Santa.
It is a fish out of water story. Paxton is from Boston and needs to get away for awhile. Lauren is the local girl who left a tiny town in the panhandle of Oklahoma but has come back to raise her son. They don’t understand each other’s worlds but as they work together and share Christmas they find their happily-ever-after.
What do you like/love about Lauren Wilson, her son Shawn and Paxton Samuels?
Lauren has a sense of humor about her. Despite being beat up by life she still sees the wonder in it.
Her son, Shawn is just a sweetheart. He is not hard to love. Little more than a baby he needs a daddy to show him the way.
Paxton really cares about people. He is a doctor with a huge heart.
What’s your favorite part of a book to write?
An active scene. This book starts with a tractor and a truck wreck and a snowstorm. Those scenes make my fingers fly.
What a fun fact about the book?
The setting in book is a real small town in Oklahoma but with a name change. My grandfather grew up there. As part of Lauren’s family history I used mine.
That sounds so cool. Tell me about your favorite scene and why is it a favorite?
I always like the moment that the hero and heroine come back together after being separated and admit they love each other. That awe ha moment.
Those are really good scenes. Susan, thank you so much for answering some questions for me. I love Christmas romances and add in being trapped together I’m even happier. I’m looking forward to reading it.
