Two weeks. Two deadlines. One future.
Romance author Kat Evans is excited to start enjoying her new life in Decker Springs, Colorado now that she’s thrown her two-faced fiancĂ© to the curb. She has a list of things to accomplish with her freedom, but first she must meet a deadline, and the book has more plot holes than swiss cheese. The last thing she needs is this gorgeous, giant of a man sitting down at her table in the Beans and Leaves cafĂ© and pointing out her missing commas. Though based on the way the local women react to him, maybe he’s the answer to her problems.
Trent Hawkins just wants to enjoy his offseason in his hometown while he decides whether to continue his pro-football career. He wasn’t planning on the fiery redhead at his usual table who has no clue who he is, and no idea how bad her grammar issues are. She shocks him with a request to follow him around for two weeks to find out just what it is that makes women swoon in his presence. What else does he have to do right now but to help a beautiful woman?
Two weeks of “research” finds Trent and Kat caught up in each other in a way even this love expert couldn’t see coming. As the press gets wind of a romance with football’s most elusive bachelor, their relationship is turned upside down, leaving Trent wondering if Kat can handle a life in the spotlight, and Kat fighting demons of her past when Trent shows different sides to the world. Can they learn to trust each other and find a love worthy of a bestseller, or will they fumble this chance at happy ever after?
I’m a big fan of Jennifer Hoopes’s writing. Two Weeks to Love is the first book in her Decker Springs series. Queue excited scream.
Two Weeks to Love brings together a romance writer who is struggling with the romance part of her book and a football player who women seemingly lose their minds over. In an adorable meet cute, Kat Evans meets linebacker Trent Hawkins. Kat has no idea who Trent is. She only knows that he’s huge, eats a lot, is infuriating, and one of the sexiest men she has even seen. Trent can’t believe that Kat doesn’t know who he is. The fact that she doesn’t is a little refreshing, as is the fact that she doesn’t back down from his challenges.
It’s the offseason and Trent is in his hometown of Decker Springs, Colorado. He has two weeks to decide if he will renew his contract or retire from a sport he loves. Kat has two weeks to turn in her manuscript, but she has nothing of value. After running into Trent and seeing how women fall over themselves in his presence, she comes up with the idea of using him as research. She just doesn’t expect her research to lead to real romance.
I liked Two Weeks to Love. The cover fits the book perfectly! The characters are likeable, however I would have liked to have known more about them. For example, throughout the book, Trent was the “grammar police”. What made him qualified to consistently point out Kat’s punctuation errors or lack thereof? Was he an English major in college? Kat’s a new author. How did she start writing? My list of questions goes on and on. I just felt like I was missing something. Unlike Jennifer’s other books, Two Weeks to Love is just a little bit more open door. But it’s not in your face. The romance is still on the sweet side. There is no clear indication who the next book will be about but I would definitely like to return to Decker Springs.
