All’s fair in love and war…

…when passion explodes in paradise!

Having survived a horrific car accident as a teen, Dr. Leilani Kim has dedicated her life to saving others. Now her dream job as head of Emergency Medicine is finally in sight…but she has competition! In the form of scarred yet sexy trauma surgeon Dr. Holden Ross. And when their rivalry stirs a desire they can’t escape, Leilani and Holden will have to decide: Business…or pleasure?

Traci Douglass’s latest Harlequin Medical Romance takes readers to the tropical paradise of Hawaii. Their Hot Hawaiian Fling features two doctors who are lucky to be alive, living only half-lives, while doing what they love in the ER.

Dr. Leilani Kim lost her entire family at the age of 14, in a horrific car accident. She fought hard to survive and now works in the same ER that saved her life. Leilani has dedicated her life to helping others while keeping those around her at a distance. Her dream job of being the Emergency Medical Director is within reach. However, she can’t help but wonder why Dr. Helen King, the hospital’s chief administrator has brought in a new doctor.

Dr. Holden Ross has suffered more than anyone should. While Dr. King saved him from dying on an ER floor in Chicago, he now has a limp, uses a cane to walk, and still carries around the pain and memories of that tragic day. Never wanting to be still or settle down, Holden now finds himself as the temporary trauma surgeon at Ohana Medical Center, wondering when he can move on to his next assignment.

A disorderly patient has Leilani and Holden working together for the first time. But it’s Leilani’s adoptive parents and Dr. King who force these two to spend more time together. For the first time since their lives were changed, Leilani and Holden find someone to share their pain with, who truly understands what it means to love and lose someone you care about, and live with carrying that burden around.

I must admit I love visiting Traci’s Anchorage Mercy Hospital series set in Alaska. I wasn’t sure I wanted to visit Hawaii. I know that sounds crazy. I just like revisiting past characters. I loved the visualization Traci was able to provide with Their Hot Hawaiian Fling. She really made me feel as though I was in the pages of the book.

With Leilani and Holden already experiencing the worst moments in their lives, I wasn’t sure where this story was going to go. I loved that the story was unpredictable until it wasn’t. As far as the characters go, I won’t say that they are my favorites. But I understand them. I understand why they came off as being initially closed off and guarded in the beginning. I understand Leilani’s need for control and Holden’s need to protect. I loved that they let their guard down for each other. Traci definitely provided a heartstopping moment but was able to put everything back together with a very nice happily ever after.
