The Cutting Edge meets Friday Night Lights in a sizzling new hockey romance from bestselling authors Kelly Anne Blount and Lynn Rush.

Figure skating was supposed to be my whole world. But one unlucky injury and now I’m down...but I’m definitely not out. I just need to rehab—a boatload of rehab—and who’d have thought I could do it on the boys’ hockey team?

Of course, the infuriatingly hot captain of the team seems to think I’m nothing but sequins and twirls. What’s a girl to do but put him in his place? Game on.

Hockey is my whole world. I’ve worked my tail off getting my team in a position to win the championships—hopefully in front of major college scouts, too—so what’s a guy to do when a figure skater ends up as our new goalie?

Of course, the distractingly sexy skater thinks I’m nothing but a testosterone-laced competitive streak. And surely she’s only biding her time to heal, then she’s gone. Game over.

Hi! Thank you so much to everyone at Read Your Writes for featuring Brodie and Willow from IN THE PENALTY BOX! We are so excited to be here and can’t wait for you to get to know our hero and heroine a little bit better!

Name: Willow Covington

Age: Seventeen-years-old

Physical Description: I’m athletic, 5’ 4”, I have blue eyes and long black hair that I usually wear in Dutch braids. I’m usually in athletic wear a.k.a. yoga pants and a fitted wicking shirt.

Oh, and lately, I’ve been wearing a lot of hockey gear 😉

Occupation: I’m an elite figure skater, training for the Olympics, oh, I also play hockey from time to time…

3 likes in no particular order: The feeling of the crisp air on my face when I’m skating, going to A&W with Gramps, and snow! Just like my Grandma, I love snow!

3 dislikes in no particular order: I severely dislike liars, injuries, and people who doubt my abilities just because I’m a girl!

Drink of choice: Water, but, an ice cold Pepsi from time to time is nice too!

Favorite food: Popcorn with M&Ms! Not sure about the combo? Just ask Brodie! 😉 He’ll tell you how good it is!

Favorite dessert: Ice cream

Favorite song: My favorite song is Fight For Your Right by Beastie Boys! It always gets me hyped for a competition! To check out my top ten favorite songs, click this link and head over to my Spotify list:

Favorite color: Blue

Choice of transportation: Skates 😉

Most prized possession: My most prized possession is my first pair of ice skates. My Grandma bought them for me when I was four-years-old. I brought them with me to Colorado when I started to train for the Olympics and hung them on the wall. They are in my room here in Wisconsin now.

Favorite way to unwind: My favorite way to unwind is to kick my feet up and watch a movie. Elf is my favorite, but I also love the Fast and Furious franchise, The Avengers, and The Princess Bride!

Favorite way to spend an evening: My perfect evening would start with some time on the ice, then coming home, popping a big tub of popcorn and sprinkling M&Ms on top, and watching a movie while texting my friends and scrolling a certain hockey player’s Instagram account! 😉

Best friend: I have two best friends. Jessa and I have been friends forever. She’s one of the only people I kept in contact when I moved out to Colorado. We are still super close! My other best friend is Ericka. She’s a competitive speed skater and her family was my host family in Colorado.

Best memory to date: My best memory to date was winning a gold medal at the Juniors Classic in Tucson! I have a few others, but I wouldn’t want to spoil IN THE PENALTY BOX for you! 😉

If you could have a do-over, what would you do differently? Well, I wouldn’t have torn my Achilles tendon, not that it was my choice, but I would have stayed in bed that day. That being said, that injury completely changed my life. I wouldn’t be where I am today without that happening.

Where do you see yourself in five years? On the ice! Kicking butt and winning championships!

Most romantic gesture: Without giving away too much, the most romantic gesture that I’ve ever experienced is when Brodie and I went to the park after the dance… Sigh… He’s so swoonworthy!

Words to live by: NEVER GIVE UP! It’s not easy, but having faith and never giving up has helped me accomplish things I never would have thought would have been possible a few years ago. Just remember, even if things seem impossible, taking even one step forward is better than standing in place!

Thank you again to Read Your Writes for having us today! If Willow and Brodie sound like your kind of characters, check out the IN THE PENALTY BOX cover, blurb, book and social media links, etc. below!
