A return, a reunion…
…A shocking revelation!

Firefighter Stacy Williams knows two things about her return to Key West. Her promotion gives her the security she needs to raise her son, and it will be almost impossible to suppress the memories of her passionate night with Dr. Luis Durand. Almost…until working on the hurricane response team brings an encounter with the tall, dark and nomadic doc! And the chance to make her life-changing confession…

Traci Douglass’s Her One-Night Secret is a one-night stand, secret baby, second chance romance. The story is the second book in Traci’s First Response in Florida duet but is a standalone read. In fact, the stories take place simultaneously.

Luis Durand and Stacy Williams initially met five years ago at Durand’s Duck Bill Pond, the bar owned by Luis’s parents. Luis was celebrating his going away party for his umpteenth mission with Docs on Duty, and Stacy was hanging out with friends. The two shared a drunken escapade on the beach. The next day, Luis went to Myanmar and Stacy returned home to Miami, later to discover she was pregnant with Luis’s child. Too caught up in trying to better her life in preparation for taking care of her baby, Stacy didn’t try to contact Luis. For his part, Luis went on with his life, but never forgot about her.

It’s been five years, but the two immediately recognize each other. Luis is now head of the emergency department at Key West General. Stacy is now a fire captain for the Key West Fire Department. The two are brought together by an injured firefighter and as members of the local emergency response team. As members of the team, they are tasked with making sure their part of the Keys is prepared for the approaching hurricane. Meaning they have to work together.

Luis has the best reaction to discovering he’s a father and wants to not only have a relationship with Miguel but Stacy as well. Unfortunately, Stacy and Luis are dealing with the ghosts of their past that stand in the way of their future.

I loved Luis and Stacy from the start. It’s hard to explain, but there’s something innately good about both of them. They mesh together really well and you don’t question how they feel for each other. You just root for them to be together. Their four-year-old son, Miguel, pretty much steals every scene he’s in. At some point, he brought tears to my eyes with his childhood innocence.

Her One-Night Secret brings back Jackson and Lucy who fell for each other in The Vet’s Unexpected Hero. Their story continues and gives readers a truly satisfying ending to their story. I loved Her One-Night Secret because of the way Stacy and Luis handled themselves. I found their emotions to be real and genuine. I loved that they had their families to have their backs and guide them in the right direction.
