At breakfast the next morning, Donovan slathered marmalade on his toast. “Do you feel up to showing me the remaining condos?”
He’s not sure if I’m going to lose it showing a property. Emma blew on her drink, took a sip, and set the mug down precisely in the center of the coaster.
“Yes, of course. It would be better to keep busy. I’ll just verify the scheduled appointments online with the other agent.” She got up from the table. “I had better go do that right away. If the properties are occupied, the tenants can be fickle. If that is the case, we may not be able to get in today.”
“Understood. While you do that, I’ll take Zeus for a short walk. Don’t open the doors for anyone, and keep your phone by your side.”
“Isn’t that a little overboard? It’s broad daylight.”
“No.” He held her gaze for a moment until she looked away. He whistled. “Get your leash, Zeus.”
