REVIEW
Lordy.  The Nurse’s Newborn Gift needs to come with a pack of tissues and a warning that tears will flow.  From the blurb, I knew going in this was going to be an emotional story, I just wasn't expecting it to bring on the waterworks so many times or with such intensity.

I often wonder about book titles.  Sometimes they really don't fit the book.  After reading this story, I completely understand the title and what it truly means.

The Nurse’s Newborn Gift started years ago, when a nineteen-year-old Krissy Peniglatt promised her best friend, Jarrod that if he didn’t make it back from his tour of duty in the Middle East she would have his child.  Krissy made the promise never believing Jarrod would be killed in action only two short years later.  It has taken Krissy some time to get her life together and feel she’s ready to tackle motherhood on her own.  She just didn’t expect Jarrod to request his other best friend, Spencer be the God-father.

Spencer Penn has always been the smart, safe guy.  He’s a thinker and likes to always have his ducks in a row.  Once friends with Krissy, he now blames her for the death of his best friend.  The last thing Spencer ever expected was to have Krissy show up out of the blue, telling him she’s carrying Jarrod’s baby.

The Nurse’s Newborn Gift takes readers on a wonderful, bittersweet, heartwarming, heart-wrenching journey of forgiveness, friendship, and love.  Wendy S. Marcus is one of my favorite authors, but this book with all of its tenderness and heart blows the rest of her books away.  I loved watching Spencer step up and be a father to his best friend’s baby, truly getting into the role of expectant/new father.  Krissy shows real courage choosing to fulfill a promise and attempting to take on motherhood single- handedly.  Just when you think Wendy couldn’t possibly put any more emotion into the book, think again.

While I haven't read all of Wendy's books, the ones I have read have been perfect.  If you haven't read her before, you are truly missing out.
