Declan is an every other weekend visitor to his mother’s newly adopted hometown of Rose Bend, Massachusetts. To make his mother happy, he agreed to go on a date or two with her neighbor. Declan doesn’t do serious relationships and has made this clear. However, no amount of letting her down easy is getting his former plus-one to understand that he’s just not into her.
A series of events lead to Remi and Declan pretending they are a couple. Fun late-night texts and spending time together leads to some serious unexpected feelings between the two. Past hurts and fear threaten to destroy anything and everything that seems to be growing between them.
A Kiss to Remember is classic Naima Simone, but maybe a little toned down. Declan and Remi are characters I immediately liked. I loved the playfulness between them. I loved Remi’s snarky comebacks to Declan. It’s like they’ve known each other for a while when they really haven’t. What I loved most about this story is that Declan truly sees plus-sized Remi. He sees everything about her from her beauty to her personality to her mind, and he isn’t afraid to tell her.
The story is short, however, it’s complete. I wasn’t left with heart palpitations, but I was left feeling satisfied. I am definitely looking forward to spending Christmas in Rose Bend, with the next book in the series, appropriately named Christmas in Rose Bend.
