Billionaire playboys aren’t marriage material.

But “fake” marriage?

What could possibly go wrong?

Wedding fever has hit the town of Royal, Texas! And graduate student Jessica Lewis has made a deal with the devil. Her one-night stand—bad boy CEO Oliver Price—has agreed to be her pretend fiancĂ© for the social season. Their off-the-charts chemistry makes their fake romance an easy sell. But the more events they attend, the more the make-believe feels very, very real. But for two commitmentphobes from different worlds, will chemistry be enough?

From Harlequin Desire: Passionate and provocative stories featuring rich, powerful heroes and scandalous family sagas.

Make Believe Match by Joanne Rock is the fourth book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: The Wedding series. It is a standalone read.

The wedding of Royal’s own best-selling author Xavier Noble to Hollywood actress Ariana Ramos is fast approaching. The wedding festivities have started and there are a lot. Up first is a cocktail/golfing event at one of Royal’s elite golfing facilities. Working the catering side of the event is Jessica Lewis, who works catering events as a server to earn money while she’s in grad school for music therapy. Attending the event because he feels he needs to make an appearance and because he’s friends with the groom is Oliver Price, CEO of Nexus, a global marketing firm.

Jessica is having a very, very bad day, after discovering something devastating while visiting her parent’s home. While being mentally preoccupied, she accidentally bumps into Oliver, resulting in the drink she’s carrying spilling on him. Thoroughly embarrassed, she desperately tries to wipe the spill off of his suit. Oliver is too busy being mesmerized by Jessica to notice. When their eyes meet it’s instant attraction. Jessica offers to buy Oliver a drink after her shift is over, never thinking that he’ll actually take her up on the offer. Surprise, surprise he does, and the two end up in his hotel room. Jessica has no intention of seeing Oliver again after their night of passion. That is until Oliver’s parents find out about them through the media.

Oliver is feeling the pressure from his family to get married, as he’s the only sibling not. With his parents being so excited, he convinces Jessica to pretend to be his fiancee until after the wedding. What could possibly go wrong with a fake relationship/engagement in a few weeks when it’s clear as a sunny Texas day that these two are head over heels for each other? Everything, if you count real feelings and real love as a problem.

I loved Make Believe Match. It was unlike any fake relationship/engagement story I can remember reading. The attraction between Jessica and Oliver was instant. Their chemistry was off the charts. They both love and would do anything for their families. They truly have hearts of gold. At one point in the story, I was sure Joanne wrote herself into a corner. But somehow she managed not to and gave these two a happy ending.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this series ends.
