Librarian Carrie Singleton must catch a killer before she can say “I do” in the 8th delightful installment in Agatha Award-nominee Allison Brook’s Haunted Library mystery series.

Carrie Singleton is ready to kiss the single life goodbye. Her wedding to Dylan Avery is just a few weeks away, and a happy ending is about to be hers. But when a body is found on the lawn of their wedding venue, happily-ever-after is looking deadlier than ever.

The victim turns out to be Billy Carpenter, a young man recently released from prison after serving time for a bank robbery. The stolen money he’d buried is gone and Carrie and the police suspect Billy’s two alleged co-conspirators, his friends Luke Rizzo and Tino Valdez. But then Luke is murdered and Tino is nowhere to be found.

With no leads and only a week to go before her big day, Carrie is on the hunt for clues. She hopes to wrap up this investigation with a neat bow before she and Dylan tie the knot. Carrie has something old, something new, and something borrowed ready for her walk down the aisle. Now she needs to find the killer without becoming the ‘something blue.’

Hi Allison. Welcome back to Read Your Writes Book Reviews. How are you?
I'm fine, thank you. Glad to be back on Read Your Writes.

Booked on Murder is the eighth and final book in your Haunted Library Mystery series. What can you tell me about the story?
Well, lots goes on in this book as Carrie and Dylan get ready for their wedding, which takes place at their friend Victor Zalinka's beautiful home on the Long Island Sound. They discover the body of a young man recently released from prison after serving time for a bank robbery. The stolen money he buried on Victor's lawn is gone, and soon another bank robber is murdered. Carrie and Dylan find themselves obliged to find the third bank robber before he is murdered.

After Carrie writes an article about the diary of a woman who was hanged as a witch in the 1600, the diary is stolen; Carrie's asked to join a secret women's society; she and Dylan find the perfect house of their dreams.

Oh. That is a lot! Can you tell me about one of your favorite scenes from Booked on Murder and why it’s a favorite?
My favorite scene takes place the day of Carrie and Dylan's wedding. They're helping the young brother of the one surviving bank robber deal with his brother when the murderer tracks them down. Other crooks come after the bank money, and Carrie is taken hostage. How she escapes and manages to get to her wedding--if not exactly on time--was such fun to write! This was pure adventure!

I love this series. Out of all the books in the series, which one is your favorite and why?
I love DEATH OVERDUE because it was the first in the series.

I love CHECKED OUT FOR MURDER because I love to have two parts of my plot come together, and I especially enjoyed how it worked out in this book. Also, this book deals with Carrie and her mother's relationship, which is a difficult one. Carrie learns to accept her mother as the person she is.

I love BOOKED ON MURDER because there are subplots I'm able to tie up in this book, like a future marriage and Carrie and Dylan's future home.

If Carrie and Dylan were real people and you could spend the day with them, what would you guys do?
Whatever they'd want to do--go out for lunch; go for a drive; visit Carrie's father and his wife (Jim is one of my favorite characters) or her great aunt and uncle. And, of course, stop at the library and spend some time with Evelyn.

What are you going to miss most about writing the Haunted Library Mystery series?
The characters and the library.

What’s next for you?
I'm two-thirds through the first book in my Dickens Island series. I love all my new characters and the fact that Dickens Island, which I created, is smack in the middle of the Long Island Sound, between Long Island and CT.

Allison, thank you so much for taking the time to answer some questions for me.
My pleasure. I'm so glad that you've enjoyed this series. I hope you'll like the next one, too.
