CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT ~ Liz Crowe's Jack Gordon

Microbrewery owner, best-selling author, beer blogger and journalist, mom of three teenagers, and soccer fan, Liz lives in the great Midwest, in a major college town. Years of experience in sales and fund raising, plus an eight-year stint as an ex-pat trailing spouse, plus making her way in a world of men (i.e. the beer industry), has prepped her for life as a successful author.

When she isn’t sweating inventory and sales figures for the brewery, she can be found writing, editing or implementing promotions for her latest publications.  Her groundbreaking literary fiction subgenre, “reality fiction,” has gained thousands of fans and followers who are interested less in the “HEA” and more in the “WHA” (“What Happens After?”)

Her beer blog a2beerwench.com is nationally recognized for its insider yet outsider views on the craft beer industry. Her books are set in the not-so-common worlds of breweries, on the soccer pitch and in high-powered real estate offices. Don’t ask her for anything “like” a Budweiser or risk painful injury.

It takes a wealth of collected experiences, emotions, successes and failures to craft the personality of a true Alpha Male.

Jack Gordon, real estate broker, licensed builder, Juris Doctorate, has had his fair share of strife. His ability to cope, to fall down and pick himself back up has lead him to a place where he believes he has it all. Friends, money, cars, more women than he can count, and a club in Detroit where he can exorcise his inner demons, fill his days and his nights.

When he walks up to a penthouse door on a hot Ann Arbor summer afternoon, frustrated, exasperated and ready to call it quits after hours of condo shopping with a wealthy couple, the last thing on his mind is meeting his destiny.

Liz’s Top 10 about Jack Gordon

10.  He’s loyal to a fault. If Jack is truly your friend you will never have to look much farther for someone to call when you are in a pinch, or want to party or play golf.

9.  He loves sports. Basketball was the one he played but only in high school and as an adult, pick up games at the gym. Soccer is a close second but mostly as a spectator. And of course, he’s a Big Ten (Michigan State) football fan.

8. He loves classic cars, made in America although has been known to overspend on them.

7. He is honest about his faults. He’s partial to classy strip bars, driving too fast, drinking too much at times, and has been known to move his ball out of the rough to get a better shot at the green. He is also impatient with perceived incompetence and does not tolerate fools lightly.

6. He can fix pretty much anything that’s broken in your house or your car. Although he hates it when he can’t and has to pay to get something repaired. He holds a builder’s and electrician’s license and loves nothing more than a day spent puttering around his house or garage, catching up on the honey-do list in Ann Arbor or at his 2 vacation homes. (as long as there is a promise of honey-reward by nightfall).

5. He loves to read. Jack is partial to sci-fi and military fiction and history. He finished the entire Game of Thrones series in a month and is addicted to the series with a not so secret crush on Daenerys Targeryen.

4.  He will spend hours playing catch, or roundball, or attempting soccer with his kids.

3.  He is tall, handsome, and he is cocky. His success has been hard won but at every step he never gave less than 100%.

2.  He adores his family.

1.   The lady always comes first.
